Northampton Saints - Munster (21/01/2012, 18:00)

Well that was unexpected. The downside it will give Kidney an excuse to pick DOC, ROG and Earls at centre.

Earls was quite good today, certainly the best he's played at 13 for a while. But I share your sentiments; this will only encourage Kidney.

As for DoC, today Ryan further cemented his position on the Munster team. He made a fair few carries, but was involved in an unbelievable amount of work around the pitch, hitting rucks and putting in big tackles. Hopefully Kidney will see that it's madness to play DoC over him at lock. (Or Toner and Tuohy for that matter.)

Zebo obviously had a great game, but Hurley was great as well and had a few nice offloads.

I think Coughlan was the best forward on the pitch today. He had a huge amount of carries, and made some big yards on occasions. I really wish he was five years younger, it's a shame he was such a late developer.

Munster playing fantastic without having a scrum. God imagine if we had a scrum. Really fun game to watch.

i know and every1 was writing munster off saying were playing bad and will find it hard to win the tournament even tho we won every single group game and finished top team in the group stages we must be playing so horrible to do that lol...

You'd have to incredibly one-eyed to say that Munster haven't been playing a bit pants up until this game :p

It's like they were doing just enough to get by, saving themselves for Saints away

Well finally back in Shannon Airport and WooHooo

Alot of people had it as "Saints wanted revenge for Thomond game" but as ROG put it Munster wanted to right the fact Saints were better team that day.
As for game can't argue we were murdered in scrums and well I not an expert so can't comment on allegations Saints were illiegally scrummaging.
But in the loose we were superb. BJ really had 1 of his best games in a Munster jersey despite scrum problems.
I said it in World Cup selections, I said it defending his selection on bench and I'll say it again now - Donnacha Ryan is international class and has earned his jersey on that Irish team.
Zebo really delivered today and well he still has alot of room for development but look overall today was a superb team performance and we are glad to be in Limerick for QF's but Ulster, Cardiff and Edinburgh are the 3 possible teams we will meet and fact is none of them are easy and we have to be 100% alert.

I missed the 2nd half. :(

I'd say Ulster will like that result, granted Edinburgh and Cardiff win they'd prefer Munster to Leinster.

Top performance from Munster, very impressive. But how band were Saints? Conceding 50 at home is a bloody disgrace regardless of the opposition.

Anyways, the upshot of this is that Leinster could end up playing Edinburgh as opposed to Ulster, which would be far more preferable. Happy days.

Very true, although I suppose Saints fans might point out that stadium MK isn't there actual home stadium. Not much of an excuse though
