New Cycling season

Not been watching!!! Heard something on local news here that Cav finished fourth this morning?

Think he's competing in the Omnium. I've had to catch highlights mostly, but they been great. Didn't even realise it was Cav in the race I watched earlier). The men's pursuit was nuts. Clancy (who 6 weeks ago was turning up to training laying down in a truck because he couldn't sit down after his back operation) dropped off with about 6 laps to go, so Brad took on the entire Oz team for 4 laps. Still pulled back time, and in the end lost by .2 of a second.
Really looking forward to the ladies Omnium, the 'pocket rocket' Trott is just amazing to watch.

Trott was finally beaten in the elimination race! Loved the way the American girl said 'I FINALLY got you!' afterwards, and they were all smiles.
Jason Kenny winning the sprint as well. I can see him joining Sky eventually. Viviani looked good though, and with the younger 'sprinters' already doing their apprenticeships with sky, it should be an interesting couple of years ahead.

Cav looks like he's going 100% for an Olympic medal. Can't see him taking many risks with the tdF.

Haha! He has to be selected first?

Hope he does and goes on to gold as his career record would then be complete....

Be truly ironic if he came out with a win in the Madison tomorrow with Wiggins and that was his only route to Rio!!

8 years of hurt (mainly due to differing priorities and some element of selfishness) assuaged and recompense with a gold would be good!!!

What a race! Was on my feet screaming at the TV.
The boys are back in town!

Will this gold be enough to put them on the plane to Rio?

I understood that he had to qualify through the Omnium else he would be the weak link in the Pursuit?

Good win for Geraint Thomas in Paris - Nice today!!

I think Sergio Henao is in the running to become Welsh Sports Personality of the year. Fantastically selfless performance. Think that's one of the reasons SKy do so well. They're a great team.

@Rich Taff....think I heard of it late last year!

Sorry for delay but on camp site with no tv and very slow intermittent wifi! Tour de Catalunya went past the front gate yesterday and have no idea who is in it, leading it or where it is going next!!!!

Today was the last day for the vuelta catalyna.
Froome, Quintana, Contador, Port, Teejay amongst others in it. (G dropped out)

Cannot believe I am here and it has all been going on around me but not no tv, no wifi and a wife impeded me somewhat!!!!

Well, that puncture pretty much screwed up Romandie. Crazily strong SKyteam, destroyed by a mechanical :(

Sorry mate!! Been too busy to watch anything very much!!

Great finish to TdY.......will not say who but brilliant tactics by winner!!

Yeah, hard to dislike the winner on that one ;)

Sky squad getting stronger and stronger though. They'll never do the Cav/Wiggo sprint/GC double again (Wiggo leading out Cav on the Champs De Lysee is still my favourite TdF memory), as they're 100% GC now, but nice to see them sending strong squads to the classics/minor races.

Pete Kennaugh put in huge effort today!!

Yeah, he always does. Incredible engine on the guy. I really can't see anyone getting near Froome in the TdF this year unless he suffers major mechanicals. Showed on the Queen stage of Romandie, by going with 20k remaining, that he has the stamina for the long runs as well as the steep parts.

Wondering if he's got a slightly higher gear this year to go with his incredible cadence. Thinking 1 or 2 more teeth in his gears could speed him up by about 1kph on the climbs.

Just ordered my Gtech bike and watching the news to see that it is believed that Froome has lost many races due to motorized cycles competing against him!

If you see a fat old guy wearing a Manx flag going up Tourmalet ahead of the field this year......that will be me @Rich Taff
