Minimum wages

Yeah well in the UK we have crap weather, crazy house prices, high cost of living, high crime rates (not as bad as SA), a transport system that hasnt improved much since Roman times and 3 crap rugby teams.

But I still would rather stay here than move to Aus, all that fresh air, good weather, clean beaches, great sea food and high wages must come at some cost.......please tell me it does.

It does, they only drink lager. Bunch of pooftahs.
 
I must say I view Oz's high wages with some skepticism though.
It discourages start-up businesses, and discourages SME's to expand. It's hammered their manufacturing sector. I also reckon the AUS dollar's value is a tad inflated, discouraging investment.
The country looks in good position for the long-term IMO (25 years +) but there will be a few tricky economic and fiscal policies on the road ahead in the mid-term.
