I know this has been said before, I think it's an opportunity missed, a mini European tournament in the summer of a Lions Tour. England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, plus the four world cup qualifiers Georgia, Romania, Portugal and Spain. Each six nation side would play a REC side in a quarter final, followed by semi finals and placing finals.
This would provide the four qualified teams with meaniful games prior to 2027 and allow England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales the chance to expand the player pool. As is already planned, Italy goes to South Africa and France go to New Zealand.
