Just my opinion, but I think SA will be the team to beat this year, and will win the 4-Nations.

Good to see.
That was an issue we had for so long.
We'd play some exciting rugby a times and get the occasional win over France/England and be satisfied with that, saying things aren't too bad.
I'll take an ugly win every day of the week.

The spirit and positive sentiment in the general SA fan base was last experienced in the Jake White era (and only to a certain extend) I should rather say the Kitch Kristie era -late winning coach of the 1995 world champs.
It is unbelievable to know once again we will choose a team based on merit and the coach is respected and valued by player, supporter and administrator alike.

This is huge for the Springboks, see this team grow to one of the best ever Bok teams in the next 2-3 years

I thought South African fans were probably the most pleased with the progress of South African rugby in 2009, even under Peter de Villiers, there was just so much hype about winning the Lions tour and then beating the All Blacks 3-0. It seemed very optimistic, right up untill 2010 roll'd around.

With PDV at the helm, I never felt such optimism.

To be honest, never, we took the wins when they came but never had any belief that this was sustainable, see what happened the next year when the rules were adjusted, we failed miserably.
You need to remember that the Jake White group of players continued with their play style as the powers that be had no clue and were not up to standard. They players could not change thereafter and they had no leader to guide them

PdV was a disgrace to the rugby history of this country

Yeah I agree with my counterparts here...

There was hype, but not so much than there is now in a coach alone... The murmurs and news articles and TV programmes all are in conjunction that builds excitement on the Heyeneke Meyer Era.
