I'd love to see footage of Nadolo's sub 11 second 100m or even hear the original source of this claim!

I can believe it. I ran between 10.9 and 11.3 myself at school so I'd be perfectly willing to believe a pro athlete could clock in below 11 on a good day. That 10.5s barrier though, then you start being rapid. Sub 10 is for freaks. Not that times over a 100m are much use for rugby analysis.

I remain sceptical I'm afraid. There are a lot of anecdotal times thrown around online, the only evidence I can find of players being timed properly is as part of a promotional event in Australia featuring guys who are considered quick in a variety of sports (other than times of former sprinters while they were training specifically for the discipline). It was won by Lachlan Turner with a time of 11.10 seconds. I'm struggling to believe that a man who weighs 1/3 as much again could go quicker.

I agree that it's not a particularly useful metric for a rugby player, I was just interested to hear if the author could properly substantiate his claim (rather than just referring unsubstantiated claims from other authors).

Well, Lomu in his playing days was just 10kg lighter than Nadolo and supposedly also ran sub 11. Add in that those were the amateur days and that Nadolo's weight is mostly in those thighs and allow for a strong wind at the back and error in the time keeping (I'm assuming it will be hand timed seeing as we are talking rugby players here at practice rather than track athletes) and sub 11 is actually quite likely for most test wingers.

As you say, supposedly. I read an article recently that claimed that Tongan Thor runs 11s dead and another claiming that Habana is quicker than Ngwenya despite having been famously skinned by him!

Based on the video I mention above, I remain sceptical especially as I've never heard any mention of him having an athletics background. There's footage on YouTube of him scoring an intercept try against Wales in 2014. While he's obviously got gas, he didn't look blistering, nor has he got a particularly nice running style. I know this is in rugby kit with a ball under his arm, not on a track in spikes, out of blocks. Conjecture of course unless LiRFUMatt replies with the source of his information.

******** he can - Carlin Isles has put paid to this bull**** of top level rugby players being able to run significantly sub 11 second times.

Isles' record is 10.24 - Nadolo is nowhere near the fastest XV's players, and they are nowhere near Isles.
