Wales and Newport Gwent Dragons lock Luke Charteris is being targeted by some of France's biggest clubs, according to his agent.

Would be a big blow for Dragons, and (if he keeps his form) a blow for Wales as well (if foreign based players are unavailable for much of the training, and the out-of-window matches)

Hope he stays at the Dragons. He's only just cemented himself in the Wales side, and unless he can sort a written contract which grants him full release for all Wales games and training then Gatland is likely to do to him what he looks set to do to Byrne, Hook and Phillips, and leave him out of some big games. We're despirately short of genuinely good locks in Wales, although Ian Evans' apparent return to form has helped somewhat. Losing Charteris would still be a massive loss, more so to the Dragons where he's their only international calibre second-row imo. Sidoli and Morgan are past it, and there's no-one exceptional coming through the ranks that I know of.
