Lions trying to steal Beast!!!

Agree, Lions r trying to keep at it, but even they now know that it is over. If he wanted to be a Lion he would be training there already. Also the story that Beast has to dicide between the sharks offer and lions offer is bull. Beast already signed a contract for 3 years, we have just offered him an alternative offer...either way he is contracted to THE Sharks.
Really keen for season to start, going to be epic...Sharks have best squad i have seen in the last 8 years or so. Bulls and stormers will also always be up there...might sound biased, but if you look at the squads...Sharks,Bulls and Stormers have the best squads (squad depth) in this superrugby season. Crusaders are not bad...carter and ritchie do it for them.

Just a matter of interest, what was your opinion of Andries Strauss before this year's Currie Cup, and after it?

To be honest i did not want to see him wear a Sharks jersey...he showed great commitment at the end, but once his commitment levels drop he will be back were he was; i love his attitude, but he is not really the best 12 out there...i am glad we have Bosman, good in all aspects of 12 play.

The only weak row in the Sharks-squad is the second row. If you look at the Bulls (Matfield, Bakkies, van der Merwe) and Stormers (Bekker, van Zyl, Fondse) I think the Sharks can use some improvement for the lock-position. For a while now I've been hoping they would sign Flip van der Merwe as a lock but unfortunately they didn't

It's nothing new to have overseas players in the ITM cup - Tasman had Ben Gollings (ENG) a couple of years ago, Hawkes Bay had Peter Winterbottom, England Openside flanker back in the early eighties, King Country had Martin Johnstone (who was a Junior All Black before he became the England Captain), Auckland has had a number of internationals over the years, including Gavin Hastings, and a French international prop who's name escapes me for the moment.

On another note, do the Currie cup sides have a salary cap ... I know some of the ITM cup sides are struggling financially, and some want to cut the salary cap.

French prop would be Christian Califano!

Sorry, don't agree with that...sykes,hargreaves,mostert, skeate and bresler all very good quality. The Bulls have better second row, but after Bulls we have the best options in Superrugby. We have very good depth all through our squad and we still might add another huge blindside flank or 2 before the season starts.

Van zyl and fondse are quite average in my opinion...Bekker is miles better than anyone else they have. No depth in Stormers rugby...starting 15 then the quality drops fast...Sharks have two players at least in each possie and they are very similar quality.
