Leinstertainment.... Pro14 Round 5

God the pro 14 reffing is ****, that needed to be played in real time not slow mo.

How the tackle in the air wasn't a YC and that was.....

Ian Davies in the Leinster Edinburgh game would be my guess

Ah yes, 'ol Ian.

The stereotypical schoolteacher referee.

"I know all the rules in the book boy... even when I cannot relate what I am seeing to what is in that book. Now that is a penalty against you for daring to question me."

I'm going to throw this out there and put my hard hat on. For me, Rhys Patchell > Sam Davies. And that's from watching them both over time, not just the last few games.

Some very interesting calls for the Welsh management to make this Nov, in a number of positions.

This ref is a god damn homer.

cockers is going to be fun to watch.

Have to say the pro league has been entertaining tonight, quite enjoying it.

Connacht blew that. Carty missing an easy conversion that would have tied it up with 5 to go, then a mistake made chasing the game. Quite like Farrell at 12, although he had a bad habit of losing the ball when on the deck. Haven't noticed him before. 5 games into the Keane revolution and Connacht are showing promise. They desperately need a 10 that can threaten to run with it though. Still not fully convinced by the Scarlets so far this year but they are cruising to the playoffs.

I think the phrase for Edinburgh is "showed good endeavour". Fowles and Tovey are their best halfback combination. The two 7s guys did alright and they are developing some reasonable options in the back three.

The biggest word has to be for their defence coach Calum Macrae. He excelled with the Scottish 7s, and has had a few good defensive outings despite transitioning back to XVs. Destined for coaching greatness methinks.

Treviso scoring 21 points away is not too shabby, but that was a weak Warriors side.

Four predictable results today, but four good contests. Same again tomorrow will keep me happy enough.

Scarlets v Connacht was a real belter of a match. Both sides were intent on throwing the ball around, to their own detriment on occasions. Both sides need to sure up their defence a little, and maybe start taking just a tad less risk in their own 22, but you can't fault the effort out there! Scarlets should be happy with their 10 point haul over the last 2 games despite not playing at their best. Big match next week now at the liberty. On form, Scarlets should walk it, but I'd expect the ospreys to up it massively, but can they do anything about their malfunctioning offense in a week?

Imo Steff Evans is probably the form winger in the NH at present. His footwork is insane, his work-rate incredible, and his try-scoring record impressive. He's not just scoring try's, he's making them too. Holley's bit of analysis at half time for the build-up to Rhys Patchell's try shows exactly why he's so good imo. Despite being a youngster, from the 10 position he was bossing his forwards around him, getting everyone into position, calling for the ball which allowed him to make the half-break and offload for the try. It shows genuine rugby intelligence, something we probably haven't seen from a Welsh winger since Shane Williams who was also equally comfortable taking the ball in midfield and creating something as he was finishing a move off out wide. You don't see North or Cuthbert doing that! If he doesn't start for Wales this Autumn there'd be something very wrong! Quality player playing with real confidence and authority.

Leinster were extremely poor in their 21-13 win over Edinburgh. Centre is a huge problem area with gaps appearing everywhere. Could easily see a Nacewa, Henshaw partnership there in Europe.

Have been concerned with Dave Kearney's form. He gets more stick than he deserves but this season he's looked very rusty so far. Barry Daly has been far superior in his games to date.

Completely agree Dullonien. I think he's one of the first names on the starting sheet for Wales for me. I guess my only concern is that the current coaches clip his wings, as it were. He has a natural ability to put himself in the right attacking positions - coming in from the middle when needed is a great example. Will the welsh management want him in position, try to make him a little more robotic in the current welsh system. This has happened with other players. The Scarlets play in a way that really compliments Steff's style.

Zebre Ulster kickoff is 1435hrs GMT+1, contrary to Pro14 website who post every kickoff as the local time of the home team, mixing timezones on the same fixture list.

Did you guys read the story about the Ospreys hooker who tried to pat a lion like a kitten while on tour in SA and then got bitten? Apparently he is out for two months.

http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/PRO14/stupid-wales-hooker-pats-lion-gets-bitten-in-sa-20170930

The fact that the pat and bite is caught on camera is amazing, what a complete and utter idiot...

So far only Zebre of the three touring sides to SA hasn't had a player do something stupid... what's next, someone gonna go shark cave diving outside the cage? They are just like friendly gold fish, they won't do any harm...
