I'm confused by what he says, he goes on about Womens Rugby needing more respect but then says ". Should women be rucking and mauling, tackling high and flying into each other?"

Take that away then it isn't rugby. So according to Mr Beattie. Women should play Rugby but not play Rugby.

Yes, he does seem to be contradicting himself/implying that Women should not play for those reasons ... perhaps he's suggesting that the coverage would be better/more people would watch if the game was safer?

My question is "Is Rugby still Rugby without Rucking and Mauling" ... High tackling is illegal anyway, and is something that can't be completely eliminated from the game.

My sister is starting up rugby..but she has a dodgy shoulder and will most likely dislocate it when some heifir comes charging at her yet this does not dissuade her from wanting to start...personnally I worry for her...

Good point, but should you worry anymore than if you had a brother who has the same problem, deciding to play the men's game ... I think Rugby as a game has a quite responsible attitude to rules and rule changes to protect players (concussion stand downs, scrum rules, mandatory use of mouthguards etc). You can't prevent anyone who wants to play the game from playing, anymore than you can stop someone from hand gliding

Ive seen the 2010 NZ womens Rugby team and they're good. They mention England a lot as their biggest foes and I think their RWC is this year. One of the kiwi players is 45 would you believe..

the Womens RWC starts in a couple of days and i think all of the previous finals have been between NZ and England ... the 45 year old player was an injury replacement for NZ's top try scorer in the last tournament.
