i was wrong he's gone to the Fair Work Commission, which is not what i would have done.

Its simple he signed a contract that says he cant do X...he did it. Got a warning....did it again....got fired.

Yes what he did was wrong and no disputing that but its not the point im making.

The point is he breached his contract and got fired so how is anything unfair and how can he fight this legally?

His brother has walked away from the Tahs now as well.

Its greed pure and simple, if was about the principle he'd be suing for his job back or at most the value of his contract

this whole "its my right" thing just makes my brain hurt....it's all prideful (to proud to back down or apologise), and greedy (wanting more than he had before) and he's unwilling to sacrifice anything to save those that might have been hurt by what he said...all things that are generally frowned upon by Christianity

"After we'd all talked, I told Raelene if she felt the situation had become untenable – that I was hurting Rugby Australia, its sponsors and the Australian rugby community to such a degree that things couldn't be worked through – I would walk away from my contract, immediately"

I am having a hard time reconciling this statement he made with what he is doing now. A good, practising Christian would never go back on his word, but he is doing precisely that. Does he not understand that by doing what he has done, and what he is doing now, he has made himself into a liar? According to his own religious standards, that means he is destined for hell.

If he really does go all the way to court, that statement is sure to come back and bite him in the arse.

100%. Hes greedy, wrong and a hypocrite.

Also, i reckon hes high balling to push up the value of any settlement.

whats really sad, and izzy's gonna find this out the hardway, is that in this fight everyone loses. the only winners here are the lawyers and they would be making alot out of this.
whatever izzy gets he'll have fork over a big chunk of it to the lawyers if he wins. if he loses he's gonna be in debt for a long long time; sucker.

I think he's now being used as a puppet by politicians who still have an issue with Religion vs. Homosexuality. My guess is that behind the scenes people are talking to him to try and stretch this out as much as possible to try and have some sort of political gain and maybe even table some sort of bill to try and get what they want.

I have little doubt he is being financed by some Australian Evangelical Christian group.

Religious fanatic turns out to be massive hypocrite who doesn't follow any of what they preach and is instead just an embodiment of all they accuse others of being? Never!

Interesting. Not sure how this would work in terms of qualification etc
IIRC he needs to go 3 years without a cap, and then play a 7s tournament for Tonga (on the world series, not just a local ****-about) - or possibly 2 of them. After that, he's eligible to play for Tonga.
IOC required there to be a route to changing alegiance that was realistically achiveable within 1 olympic cycle (4 years) - this was the compromise hammered out to allow rugby into the olympics.

did anyone else know about this loop hole? why hasn't anyone else tried it?

So he can play for Tonga at the next world cup when he's 35 odd and has presumably not played in that time (since it does not appear that anyone wants to hire him).

It's been very well publicised for about 4-5 years now (up north at least); and a couple of players have taken it, with a fair few others threatening to do so
