Italy v Ireland

Ireland for the Grandslam though. Hey I'm nothing if not stupidly, blindly optimistic.

Ugh, what a turgid game of rugby. A few things:

Kidney's game management was very poor. Where were Court, Jennings and Cullen? Should have been on after 50. Cop on.

Italy were better than they have been for a while. Lasted longer, played well.

O'Leary is poop. So, so slow. There was a massive difference when Reddan came on. Bad selection

Leamy was weak. Wouldn't play him against France, regardless of who is fit.

What happened to Darce????

I'm not happy with the scrum. I thought Poite managed it very badly. Ross was okay, Healy was poor.

Fitzgerald and Sexton were our best men today. Happy to see Luke do well, we need another full back.

Well, very sad for Italy. They were oh so close...Good try also.

Italy had all the time in the world, plus one man advantage. Drop goal attempt was too far and too early. They could easily get another additional 10 metres and only then kick the ball. Mirco Bergamasco should take same responsibility for losing. In Test level you have to kick this point which he failed to do.

Harsh. He missed a very tough kick. I wouldn't say he was to blame for the loss.

He missed sitter in front of goals in the first half.

disappointing but much better than expected fro Italy

a pity the guys only tried a few times to run the ball, the backs showed they can do that

Ireland too awful to be true

My verdict

The bad:

Bullied in the pack
Too many sixes. Drop Leamy next week. If Heaslip and Ferris are still injured play Jennings at 7 and Wallace at 6.
Not clinical enough
THE HANDS! (particularly D'Arcys) You're professional rugby players! Just hold onto the ******* ball! Did the dry, warm weather make the ball slippy? Idiots!
Tomas O'Leary
Healy's scrummaging
O'Driscoll's passing
Not challenging in the line out
Defense

The good:

Jonny Sexton
Luke Fitzgerald at 15
Mike Ross

Ireland should have had the win easily wrapped up the 65 minute mark, they wasted so many scoring opportunities but they let Italy back in it and fair play to Italy for getting the try, I feel sorry for them.
