Is it just me or are wales getting a bit cocky?

Some of the media hype has come from British press and not just Welsh press.

The one pundit that has gone on a limb about what people are complaining about is Jiffy. He's done the same thing that Austin Healy and Guscott tend to do.

Also the likes of TFJ on this board is not the general consensus amongst all of Wales and Welsh posters. Fairly frustrating when we are being labelled along with this cretin.

Still got to the Semi Finals ... just saying.

But still lost the games against the big teams when it mattered, dunno why this has turned into a argument.

Maybe because you're going around saying inflammatory and blatantly incorrect statements?

Are you joking me?

It was a good world cup because a) Its the furthest we have got since 87 (before I was born so I have no prior experience of supporting a team in a World Cup semi final) and b)we played well in every game to beat Ireland, Samoa and Fiji, to run South Africa closest than we ever have before, to lose by one point in the Semi final, I won't mention the ref.

Average? P**s off

Please dont we cant blame the ref for our players inhability to kick the ball over the posts.

Definitely. They lost to SA, France, Aus in the world cup because they couldn't close the game out, lost to Aus again in the Autumn, then are saying they can now win the 'tight games' over an aging Irish side with a coach the fans hate, and a very new, inexperienced England side who were a TMO away from a draw.

imo to say that they've improved suggests that they'll be winning those tight games against those Southern Hemisphere sides - their performances so far suggest either England and Ireland have magically raised their game, or that Wales are in the same place as they were 5 months ago.

They're in a position to say 'we'll give it a go' against anyone, but they aren't in a position to say 'we'll win' or 'we're the favourites' over many top teams.

Warbs saying at the end of the game at Twickers 'we played really badly' is the sort of cockiness that's just a bit silly - Wales have lost to England the last 3 six nations before this one, turn up against our new 'building' side that's played poorly so far, we fronted up and the Welsh managed to win, and they call it a poor performance.

C'mon, there is no way they could have played better and beating us at Twickers was a hell of a result for them - and the self expectation that a good performance considering their past form/players etc would mean a much better result than they got is a bit of a cocky joke.

Best response I've heard so far.

How is that incorrect statement even most welsh fans would agree with me on that.

Getting to a world cup semi final is hardly average, considering it puts you in the top four in the world. If you offered me that I'd take it without a second thought. Don't pretend you wouldn't either.

Only 'cos it agrees with you

Agreed with this.

Had Wales brought their kicking boots, we would have been in the Final. Fact remains Wales were poor for so long and are now finding ways to win, good on them I say.

I Could say the same about Ireland had we played better than what we did against wales, then came up against a french team and played the way we played against AUS we could have been in the Final, but we didn't do that and neither did you. Ifs and butts.

That's from a french fan's point of view and whats not true in what he said explain?

Lets be a bit pedantic here according to the IRB World ranking England are better than Wales as they are 5th and we are 6th so going by their rankings the people who run the international game we all love Wales beat the team who are better than them.

This thread now smells of a lets rag on Wales becuase they are winning and we lost and got a horrible bitter taste in our mouths just saying thats all.

Nearly every welsh TRF poster is very realistic about Wales right now... a handful of experienced internationals surrounded.by a really promising group of youngsters who have already achieved some relatively surprising accolades (RWC SF, triple crown) for ones so young.

I will say that we haven't played particularly well thus far this 6N but still picked up the triple crown with away victories in two difficult places.

Lucky against Ireland? No! Out played Ireland for the majority of the game and if it wasn't for some poor execution wouldv'e been well clear before Ferris' tip tackle.

Lucky against England? No! Just a proper test match where both teams fronted up.

And don't forget Wales went down to 14 in both... a significant handycap we managed to overcome.

Wales are far from the finished article but they don't deserve some of this threads jealous vitriol.

Here here well said sir

Yes it was good because you beat us only, you lost to SA , AUS and France its alright beating us because u know our team a lot, it was a average world cup at best.

So when Wales win they get the lucky decisions but when they lose it's nothing to do with other teams getting the decisions (Hooks penalty going over against SA and Warbs red when others got yellow)? It goes both ways. During the RWC so many were saying it didn't matter how they played as it's all about the win. Now the same posters come out of the woodwork with "their not playing well and lucky to get the wins". Easier to just start ignoring those people.

As was stated in the opening post...... "a poster etc." meaning 1, most posters or pundits aren't getting to carried away but merely enjoying a bit of success for a while. Jonathon Davies' comments were also taken out of context and it was in relation to the backline from the first 2 games not the reshuffled line up we had seen on the weekend.

Welsh team, or Welsh nation? In terms of the team no. In terms of some of the supporters, perhaps, but they deserve to be consider how much rubbish they've had to put up with.
