Is fifa worth getting?

Is fifa 08 worth getting? reviews are crap. Should i get It.

its actually challenging this year.. im sitting 11th in the football league 2 table with dagenham & redbridge after starting the season very shitty, im only playing on professional difficulty as well.

(im speaking from a next gen standpoint)

not sure where the negatives reviews are on next gen

admittedly its not as fun as say pes5

but in terms of 'gameplay speed (ie overall pace of the game), and online play - FIFA08 on next gen is the best soccer game for these 2 aspects in particular

i have X360 version - and i assume the ps3 version plays almost identical

all other versions - i have no idea at all

I'm PES until I die but FIFA is great this year. If i wasn't for the fact that PES was out I would still have it. It's good this time. Very good, in fact.

Most nights it is fine but if you are on on a bad night the only thing you want to do is either cry or throw it out of the window. I have just lost a game in the Play PES £50k tournament because of lag. Not a happy chappy, so I am.

Fifa rarely struggles from Lag, because the servers are prepared for the load... whereas Konami don't have enough dedicated servers... hence the lag...

I was probably a bit Fifa fanboyish there. It's a great game, I'm just so pleased with the improvement in Fifa. I know I didn't like it when people bagged it harder than it deserved. So on reflection I retract that last comment. I won't edit it though......I'm too lazy.

Do you know how many years I have waited for you to say that!

Fifa have had crap versions over the years....but the last 4 years have had them show PROMISE as a football gaming ***le that could be taken seriously as magnificent. Fifa have also (and often with disastrous results) tried searching for the winning formula with more aplomb than perhaps PES who assumed that they had the holy grail and played it safe with each instalment. Now fifa seem to be on the ball and each instalment is not as dramtically different from the previous while PES seemed to be getting close to the end of their discovery road and would have to therefore jump onto a new concept of playing the game if they are to overtake with significance. Or they could just copy Fifa.



Fifa on broadcast view (with the zoom and height tweaked a bit) using a 42inch or more 1080 pixel screen on PS3 or the 360 creates the closest thing so far to a real experience of watching football and being able to control its outcome!



And all those fine touches and little individual skill moves....bloody beautiful in the hands of a master...you gotta love it!
