Irish Summer Tests

Peter stringer is being overlooked and if you complain about age then you should have a look at some squads picked, they include O'Callaghan, O'Connell, O'Gara, O'Driscoll and D'Arcy. Strings is playing some fantastic rugby at newcastle, he should at least be ahead of O'Leary.

I'm gunna get grilled for this and I know it....
Actually anyone that has watched Newcastle will agree, he has been superb and well sad thing is Stringer would probably compliment Sexton best and well his pass would give Sexton that extra second to make decisions but Strings and Deccie haven't ever really recovered from words they had in 08 it seems

Oh, go on, what's the goss?

Anyway, it's no coincidence that Newcastle's resurgence happened to come all along when Strings did.

No the time Strings was dropped in the HEC QF vs Gloucester, he wasn't happy and questioned why this happened and basically got the silence treatment.
Rumours then flew around saying ROG had a part in him being dropped (never proven) and well the rest is simple really.

But agree it has been the 9/10 platform at Newcastle that really lifted them

That doesn't surprise me really. I've heard stuff like that about Kidney before, ie. his man management skills leave an awful lot to be desired.

How'd you think the squad would look like if ireland had done better in 2007 and O'Sullivan was still in charge, do you think the squad would look any stronger?

To be fair Ulster and Leinster are top 2 teams in Europe and I think the Irish team should be made up from these 2 provinces for Summer.

POCs injury - kidney's perfect excuse to keep DOC in the starting XV

Maybe the majority of the players should be picked from Ulster and Leinster on form, but to be honest I think if players from any one of the provinces were left out the team would have trouble filling certain positions.

Given that both Leinster and Ulster start NIQ players in the second row we'd be very short on locks, and without Felix Jones as backup we'd be one injury away from a gaping hole in the back three as well, one that in the 2011 Six Nations we really struggled to fill. Given that Fitzgerald and Bowe are out as well Earls would be missed from the backline. A lot of people complan about him but his pace and ability to beat a tackler are very good.

No we should have Tuohy, Cullen, Toner and McCarthy or maybe D.O'Callaghan so and in backs bring Kearney x2, McFadden, Gilroy, Trimble and Fionn Carr and anyone else Ulster have.
No need for Munster lads, should let them try earn their spots again

If I didn't know better, I'd suspect munstermuffin of trolling, or hoping that the Munster players will be kept away from a hard summer's tour so they're fresh for next season.

If you seriously think Keith Earls should be left at home so Fionn Carr can go, I want to speak to your mental health services.

That national team is only a nightmare. Sick of getting not bad luck off a joke of a team. :p

It's a pointless game. Ireland will be missing their best players while the Barbarians are only on an end of season **** up.

I'm surprised that Mike McCarthy and to a lesser extent Felix Jones and Paddy Jackson haven't been named. Thankfully there's no place for Stephen Archer to be shown up. Ronan Loughney will be shown up instead.

Looks decent, really happy that Gilroy's in there hope he makes the squad for NZ.

Felix isn't fit enough - injury cursed again.
Presume Jackson is being let off because he will have played enough between the 20's and Ulster. Strange that P.Wallace seems to still be 3rd choice 10 for Ireland AND Ulster.
McCarthy was cleared after being cited against Glasgow but maybe that is the A.N. Other

That squad list says to me they expect ROG and Mincer to play full games. Presumably the Foal will be heading straight to U20 prep.

I'm wondering who the hell goes full-back.

The only player I can see who's any experience of playing full-back is Earls. It might mean he plans to start Cave in the centre.

I'd say the two players yet to be named might be Leinster players who don't make the squad for the Rabo Final.

I presume Gavin Duffy is going to be in there as an unnamed player. There's no other specialist fullback in the team.

Keith Earls has experience at fullback and Gilroy played there at u20's I'm guessing Earls will be the 15 there would be no point witholding Duffy's name.
