Ireland v South Africa

I love my rugby to much to juge PDV, for coaching a international team is tuff. Still on paper SA got some great players and has a lot of depth in the reserve banks (Do not know why we use so little) and for that I think SA can pull out a victory, unless Irish luck has a say in the matter...
ps. I cant wait!!

We've been lucky 3 times in a row so!

Ireland 15 - 10 South Africa
Ireland 32 - 15 South Africa
Ireland 17 - 12 South Africa

South Africa sre talented and their depth is far greater than Ireland's but they've a poor coach, their form isn't good and their record in Ireland of late hasn't been crash hot either. For the most part Ireland's key players on on form. For those reasons I think Ireland will win.

Must say looking there our defense has been excellent also against them and that could be key

Thats why I know this ones gonna be a goodie. Always a good clash when these 2 meet, cant wait.

I hope Aplon and Kirchner get games... Kirchner, very underrated and as an All Black supporter who had never seen him play until the Tri Nations, I was impressed.. JDV and JDJ in the centres, Aplon and Banana on the wings, Kirchner at fullback, Morne at first five and Hougaard at Halfback... The best backline they could front at the moment... Unless Pietersen is on the wing to replace Banana

I hope Lwazi Mvovo will get a chance. He has been outstanding together with Basson. Those are the top wingers at the moment. Aplon at fullback with de WP centres JdJ and JdV and Morne Steyn will be the best backline. Hougaard at scrumhalf, Vermeulen or Kankowski at 8, Alberts and Smith as flankers and for the lock position I would love to see Hargreaves snatching a start.

The frontrow will be unpredictable

What are the chances of him calling up Wian Du Preez? He's been doing pretty well at Munster.

Darbutter he was doing well in SA too and they wouldn't rate him so doubt they will now even though if they had a decent coach Wian wouldn't be far off

P Divvy said that he will not select any players who are contracted by European clubs. Ruan Pienaar and BJ Botha won't be in the squad, Francois Steyn neither since there's been some problems between the Racing Metro staff and the Springbok coach.

Few days ago there was a meeting between the two parts ans seems they reached a sort of agreement. Steyn is now again a potential Springbok, but his poor performance in the Tri Nations doesn't help at all.
I think that policy of excluding overseas players is stupid and anachronistic. And I don't even think the Springbok coaches have a clear and coherent idea concerning that point. They seem like changing their minds every time. A shame, not just for Botha, Pienaar and Steyn, but also for Van Niekerk or Britts, among others. With the world cup that close could be the right ocassion to give players like that a chance.

This would be my Boks 22 for the game vs Ireland:

1.Tendai Mtawarira
2.Bismarck du Plessis
3.Jannie du Plessis
4.Bakkies Botha
5.Victor Matfield (captain)
6.Deon Stegmann
7.Juan Smith
8.Pierre Spies

9.Francois Hougaard
10.Morne Steyn
11.Lwazi Mvovo
12.Jean de Villiers
13.Adi Jacobs
14.Bjorn Basson
15.Frans Steyn

16.Chiliboy Ralepelle
17.Coenie Oosthuizen
18.Alistair Hargreaves
19.Willem Alberts
20.Ruan Pienaar
21.Patrick Lambie
22.Gio Aplon

BTW here is the revised Boks squad after all the injuries were sorted out:
Revised Tour Squad

13 players out, and they can still put a team of such strength!
Arguably stronger than some of the squads they put out in the 3N.
I'd be very very surprised if Habana wasn't in the 22 though (don't think he should be, but think it's inevitable really)

Looking forward to this match a lot, very glad it doesn't clash with an England match. Wonder if Bakkies will be able to contain himself

Yeah pretty awesome, ain't it?Well if you had to choose between Habana and Mvovo on current form, Mvovo would be ahead by a country mile!

I'd love it if Kidney picked this team

15 Kearney
14 Bowe
13 Earls
12 BOD
11 Fitzgerald
10 Sexton
9 Reddan
8 Heaslip
7 O'Brien
6 Ferris
5 Toner
4 O'Callaghan
3 Buckley
2 Cronin
1 Healy

But he'll probably go with this for the Boks

15 Kearney
14 Bowe
13 BOD
12 D'Arcy
11 Fitzgerald
10 O'Gara
9 Stringer
8 Heaslip
7 Wallace
6 Ferris
5 O'Driscoll
4 O'Callaghan
3 Hayes
2 Best
1 Healy

He definitely won't start Hayes, Mick O'Driscoll or Stringer.
He probably won't start O'Gara or D'Arcy.
I dunno about Best

He may not go with Hayes but the rest are a dead cert to start, wait and see, Kidney will stick to his old favs.
