Ireland v South Africa

Although we've had a horrible Tri-Nations, we should still be able to beat Ireland. I hope we can give some new talent a chance like Duane Vermeulen, Craig Burden, Lwazi Mvovo, Willem Alberts, Dewald Duvenhage, Gerhard van den Heever and Bjorn Basson for instance.
Actually, SA were just picking up the pieces in the final lag of the Tri-Nations. So it should be a close game.

Ireland have beaten SA the last three times they've met? I didn't know that
That's impressive, isn't that a similar record that the All Blacks have got atm :p

And I doubt it would stand if Ireland played SA as frequently as we do.
Don't forget New Zealand have a record against every Test Nation they have ever played and only 5 of the top 20 nations have ever beaten us.

Would the Irish use the AIs to try out new players on the international stage looking towards the 6N and later RWC 2011? Who would you suggest these player would be or do you think the Irish squad is pretty much sorted for the WC in NZ?

We need to get some new players in for sure and give game time to those who got their first caps in June, yes we are hopefully going to use this to try out new things.

I suspect Declan Kidney will put out his strongest possible XV against NZ and SA. Samoa and Argentina may provide the opportunity to try some new players. In my opinion Ian Keatley (flyhalf, Connacht), Tom Court (prop, Ulster) Jamie Hagan (tighthead, Connacht), Mike Ross (tighthead, Leinster), Sean Cronin (hooker, Connacht), Devin Toner (Second Row, Leinster) and Sean O'Brien (flanker, Leinster) are the internationally inexperienced players who could get a run in those games. Of those players I've listed, Court, O'Brien, Cronin and possibly Ross could feature against the Boks and the NZers.

Ah these lads are serious contenders to play SA and/or NZ. Particularly O'Brien

I really hope we play 10. Sexton 12. BOD 13.Earls I think BOD has all the qualitys for a 12 and Earls best position is a 13. Sexton and BOD link up so well that them playing right next to each other with the pace and step of Earls could be a fantastic combination. At the moment I think are best back option is 9.Reddan 10.Sexton 11.Fitzgerald 12.BOD 13.Earls 14.Bowe 15.Kearney

earls is not a centre, look at how he carries the ball and defends, 11 is his best position, and i would bet on that being his position when munster are at full strength, and odriscoll is the best defensive 13 in the hardest position to defend on the pitch. kidney wont be making any changes here.

Sexton4Ireland - When Ireland are at full strength Earls is our 13 as he is the best 13 we have - his defense is good and improving constantly. His attacking sense and pace is brilliant and fair enough he might not be in the centre this November but he will win many caps for Ireland in the centre.

Coonor - I like that backline but with D'Arcy doing well I can't see Kidney leaving him out

Have you ever seen this guy play?

Earls is incredibly talented but he's not a good enough defender at 13 yet (you can't deny that Toulon found lots of holes in Munster's midfield just like Leinster have done on countless occasions) and he's not a good enough passer either. Hopefully he develops a partnership with Johne Murphy in Munster's midfield. He's not being helped by playing with a revolving door of other centres over the last few seasons (Tipoki, Mafi, Tuitupou). Saying he's a better 13 than O'Driscoll is stretching things quite a bit.

I'm not saying Earls shouldn't be in the team but he shouldn't be in there ahead of the Ireland captain. I could perhaps understand shifting O'Driscoll to 12 but then you lose out on Paddy Wallace or Gordon D'arcy. Earls' best shot at getting into the full strength team at the moment is at 11 where he'll compete with Luke Fitzgerald and Andrew Trimble.

i cant see earls making it as a 13, pace is no use when you shoot out of the line and miss tackles, and his passing and offloading game isnt good enough either. i just think hes much better suited to 11 where he can use his pace on the outside. even in attack he struggles at 13 against real challenges. itll be earls 11, mafi 12, tuitopou 13 come the double header with the ospreys injuries and suspensions permitting.
i would consider earls somewhat more in fionn carrs territory than brian o'drisscols

I feel that Earls has played his best rugby on the wing. He has pace to burn and has that x factor for starting something from nothing. I can understand you wanting him to get on the ball more at 13, but I just think he's not a distributer. Sure he can burn lads on the outside but how often do we see 13's make breaks like that these days. Not very often.

Slating his defense is a load of **** to be honest, he's been solid for the most part when playing 13, and when BOD goes who do we have playing 13 regularly? (because you need to play to here regularly to be used to defending there)

Cave?.......
