Ireland v South Africa

Ross has been terrific. It's barely been acknowledged but he made a key carry right before Sean O'Brien's try on Saturday and was right on Richardt Strauss' shoulder for the hooker's score. I don't know whether his conditioning has improved or the fact that he's getting a run of games is boosting his confidence but whatever it is, hopefully it'll continue. He wasn't bad last season putting in a lot of solid performances but he's really got his ass in gear now. At 30 he's still got another 3 or 4 years of quality rugby ahead of him too.

All he's got to do is fill the gap for about 3 years until Jamie Hagan comes through. It's a shame he wasn't playing this well last season, we could have done with him in the 6 nations!

Will Sexy be fit to kick goals by then? if not then i see O'Gara there. maybe Wallace at 12, its great we've so many options everywhere. Cronin for the 2 shirt, go on son make it yours!

cronin to me looks far bette rthan best and varley and flannery is only entering the season now

how long till poc is back?

Guys, please learn to spell the names right ;)

It's not de Jonge, de Young or anything like that. Its: Juan de Jongh. Hope to see the Springboks bouncing back from a horrible Tri Nations.

Getting us to spell the Irish players names right would be a start!!!

lmao! I see Ireland giving these guys a good run for their money considering their poor Tri Nations effort.

We should beat them. Should being the key word.

What were you laughing at by the way?

Although we've had a horrible Tri-Nations, we should still be able to beat Ireland. I hope we can give some new talent a chance like Duane Vermeulen, Craig Burden, Lwazi Mvovo, Willem Alberts, Dewald Duvenhage, Gerhard van den Heever and Bjorn Basson for instance.

hopefully ireland can pick uo their 4th win in a row over the bok
i think it is to early and probaly to close to call

Ireland have beaten SA the last three times they've met? I didn't know that
That's impressive, isn't that a similar record that the All Blacks have got atm :p

Ahh forgot about De Joung he is a very good player from what ive seen he has nice feet, a good partnership even if they are both 12's.

De Jongh is a 13; he has only been playing 12 lately to accommodate Jacque Fourie at 13 while de Villiers was losing form/having a rest at Munster. Exciting player. Decent in defense as well; won't be tackling any international centers backwards but I haven't seen him miss a tackle for about a yeear and a half now.

Would be great, although I'm not one to pick Burden; ahead of du Plessis, Liebenberg or Straus, not a chance. We had a horrible 3N with the guys looking extremely tired and also missing a play-maker (Fourie du Preez). We should easily beat Ireland but we can expect the following to count against us:

1) Ralepelle ahead of the 3 class hookers mentioned above
2) Pierre Spies is useless up North (Duane Vermeulne / Danie Rossouw or even playing Schalk Burger at 8 or giving Willem Alberts a go would work better) but we know, for a fact, that PDivvy is going to select the 4rth choice hooker, no.8,
3) Scrummie and
4) fullback in Ralepelle, Spies, Januarie and Kirschner.
5) We will proably see a left field quota player or two as well ala Earl Rose, Heini Adams etc.

Team I would select (with Brussouw, Bekker, du Preez and Fourie injured and resting Smit, Matfield, Steenkamp and Habana who have played tons of rugby this year)(Up and comers who are injured: Liebenber, Mapoe)

Coenie Oosthuizen
Bismarck du Plessis
Jannie du Plessis
Bakkies Botha
Danie Rossouw
Francois Louw
Juan Smith (c)
Duane Vermeulen
Francois Hougaard
Morne Steyn
Gio Aplon
Jean de Villiers
Juan de Jongh
Bjorn Basson
Patrick Lambie

Tendai Mtawarira
Adriaan Strauss
Flip van der Merwe
Schalk Burger
Jano Vermaak
Peter Grant
Wynand Olivier

extended squad:
Chiliboy Ralepelle
Brok Harris
Franco van der Merwe
Dewald Potgieter
Dewald Duvenhage
Meyer Bosman
Lwazi Mvovo
Hennie Daniller

Yes it is but to be fare it'd been on home soil.

..and very controversial (at least the first one of th 3)

I wouldn't pick Burden for the hooker position but more as a flanker.

1. Ralepelle
2. B. du Plessis/Liebenberg
3. J. du Plessis
4. Hargreaves
5. Rossouw
6. Burden
7. Alberts
8. Vermeulen
9. Hougaard
10. Morne Steyn
11. Mvovo
12. Lambie
13. De Jongh
14. Basson
15. Aplon

This would be my side to try. Some new talent would be great working towards the World Cup next year.

JDV( i won't try spell his name Ezequiel) was playing much better when he left Munster compared to when he got there i don't think he was losing form he was IMO playing crap when he got there.

Are the South African coaching staff not trying to slowly move Lambie into the National squad thinking he is too young?

In that game the ref told John smith to talk to his players after a penalty then TOG took a quick tap and scored a try witch pretty much gave us the game.
