Ireland v Italy

Lads we won but Italy were shite and France will beat us if we don't up it which I know we will.

I think Earls has to come in for Trimble as Earls is the better player (not saying Trimble was bad)

ROG will probably keep Sexton (if fit) out as he was brilliant today.
McLaughlin and Cullen did well but think Ferris and DOC will come back in if fit.

I thought D.Ryan did very well too when coming on and could earn a bench spot covering second row or backrow.
Paddy Wallace too i think deserves to stay in 22.

All in all though it was a good work out but lads is it jus me or has Kearneys form dipped alot in last 2/3months.

If by "brilliant" you mean "boring as f**k" then spot on
He kicked his goals and that's it. Ireland looked more dangerous when Wallace came on

Kearney was woeful today but Trimble showed no conviction in going for the ball which should have been his, France will exploit this again if he starts next week.

Worrying to see O'Gara going off especially with the uncertainty over Sexton. Credit to Wallace though when he came on.

Yes, folks - the greatest tournament on ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Horrible second half. BOD and ROG kept it together.

Backrow fairly anonymous in attack. Healy too upright going into contact. Not sure how Poite was reffing the scrum. Kearney is the anti-MOM.

Biggest shock of the day was Italy pulling off a back move in the last minute.

BBC commentators were saying that: Trimble didn't want to kick, so always passed the ball back to Kearney, which is what caused the Italy try. If he plays/does that, then the other teams will exploit that

You missed the flat pass that set up the first try? Brilliant.

Wallace shouldn't be in the squad.

But like that is ROG's game like I'd prefer Sexton (and I Munster) simply because on their best days Sexton isn't as good a kicker from hand/goal as ROG but Sexton is the better 10 for releasing backs and linking game.

Wallace is a playmaker too and came on fresh against a tired italians but did excellent.

Pack seemed bit sleepy besides Wallace and I think Ferris' presense was missed.
McLaughlen wasn't bad it just the presense.

Can't imagine Ireland will display so poor perfo next week. It's so amazing how were they indecisive when slowed by opposite defense.
Imagine also that they will be a lot more realistic and O'gara should spend his time playing dropgoals...

Oh yeah Earls has to start against France or even Shaggy as Trimble ia great Ulster player but not International class and I know Shaggy usually 14 but I sure he'd step across easily.

Agree with everybody , a poor second half..in the meantime , it is never easy that sort of matches where you know you are stronger than your opponents , it is not highly motivating . Overall Ireland Played relaxly their game ant they won comfortably . I have no doubt that they will be ready for next week .

Italy played a bit better in the second half but till they won't master their basics (lineout for example) , they won't go anywhere !

Looking forward for the second match , It should be quite tense game :bravo:

Average first half, dull second half. Let's hope this is going to be the worst 6 Nations game this year, eh, as I don't want to have to watch that again.

Saw the last ten minutes of the game, nice last move by the Italians but I'm happy the irish won

Did anybody see the BOD interview at haltime England - Wales, he looked seriously ****** off.

Yeah he didn't look happy because I think if we are to win championship it'll have to be Grand Slam as point difference wont be our strong point this year.

Cullen to start next week. He was awesome.[/b]
Cullen awesome??? The pack were bad for their standards except Wallace and Heaslip maybe

Cullen wasn't terrible but didn't do anything to oust DOC

Leo Cullen is an excellent HEC player but an international he isn't, I just feel the same applies for Trimble. Would be happy to be proved wrong.[/b]
I though Cullen performed very well today

What the hell was with that game?
I cant believe how Ireland were playing. Italy were awful, and ireland for some reason just didnt pounce on them.
It was a really boring, poor game to watch but Ireland flattered Italy with that scoreline - they should have done more with the ball given to them.
I hope ireland step it up for the next game.
