I agree with Cmac he will probably retire after the lions tour why could Kidney wait a few months I'd say drico is gutted...
Don't agree with it at all, O'Driscoll plays unless he his forced not to, if it wasn't for him Ireland wouldn't have that Grand slam and probably none of the triple crowns either. Irish rugby for the last ten years has been Brian O'Driscoll and Declan Kidney is nothing more than a gobshite who is probably a little bit jealous. Brian O'Discoll should have been Ireland captain until the day he retired and this move by Kidney is hugely disrespectful.
I'd say Heaslip is embarrassed about it too to be honest.
Would you like to play against a ****** of O'Driscoll?
It wouldn't surprise me if Kidney benched Drico and kept earls 13, I would no doubt hang myself but I wouldn't be surprised...Well, I can't really say it makes much sense. He'll still more than likely be our starting 13, so stripping him of the captaincy at this stage of his careers is highly unusual. Unless of course this means that Kidney is going with someone else at outside centre.
Agree with Irelandfan. O'Driscoll is Irelands captain and should have remained Irelands captain. until he retired like Keith Wood and so many before him, it is a disrespectful and cowardly act against the best player Ireland have ever produced.
Uhm, given the predictably negative reaction from a lot of Irish fans and sectors of the Irish press, wouldn't the cowardly thing to have done be ignore his feeling Ireland needed to move forwards with the captaincy and name O'Driscoll to avoid all this?
I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, but cowardly? It's about the single most ballsy thing Kidney's done since... actually, since sticking Zebo in at 15 in the Autumn, that was pretty ballsy.
Its a huge amount of disrespect from Kidney in my opinion. I'm also not 100% sure if Ireland had all back row options he would be a guaranteed starter. He hasn't reached the same peaks in performance that he delivered during 2009 and has been a passenger in many of Ireland tests since the grand slam. For me he hasn't earned the honour and the jury is very much still out on him as a captain and to certain degree his playing ability.
