IRB Nations Cup 2014

22-3, at halftime. Copeland came on for the injured Dougall and has been the standout player. Bryan Byrne also looking well.

Uruguay are better than Russia but still not really above B&I level.

EDIT: 51-3 fulltime.

Romania - Russia 22-20 highlights:

The last day of this tournament will be the most interesting. Russia will play against Uruguay, they will probably meet again later this year to fight for the last spot at the RWC. In the second match of the day, Romania and Emerging Ireland will play to win this tournament.

Uruguay - Russia 13-6 highlights:

Russia continues to sink, they had almost all their best players available yet they lost to an Uruguay with many absents. These two teams are very likely to meet again later thsi year in the repechage for the last spot at the RWC and yesterday's win will be a big confidence boost for Uruguay.

Emerging Ireland - Romania 31-10 highlights:

The result is harsh for Romania, who dominated most of the match but defended poorly and couldn't finish. But it was a good performance from the young Oaks team that missed most of its best men. Congratulations to Ireland for winning the tournament, their squad included some amazing players who will surely be selected in the first Irish squad soon.

Was Copeland really as good and the media are suggesting? I hope so would be good to have an alternate to Heaslip.

Interesting game for Romania. If only they would have made fewer mistakes in defence they would have finished with a much better score. They also dominated the last 20 minutes.

Copeland was excellent in Europe last season for Cardiff. Won 3 man of the match awards from 6 games if I remember correctly. I'm sure there's areas of his game he needs to work on.

He needs to vastly improve his control at the base and his discipline before Joe will pick him.

He was excellent in the open field on this tour but as said the opposition clearly wasn't really any good for most of it.

In fairness he was targeted a few times in this and kept his nerve but agreed his discipline can improve but he can fix this and having done a bit of analysis most of his indiscipline is stopping tries etc technical fouls so like it's not as if he has very short fuse

Well stuff like these two are just stupid and there's no immediate threat.

We didn't get a single card in the 6N Joe is a stickler for discipline.

Copeland was excellent, he was also named the best player of the tournament. He is great athlete, there aren't many players with such a combination of height, power and speed. He needs space to shine though and his control of the ball behind the scrum is pretty bad. But he's a very skilled player and a major attacking threat, he will surely get into the first Irish squad as a substitute at least.

In my opinion (but I watched every match from the stands so I might confuse some numbers), the other standouts in the Irish team were Craig Gilroy and Andrew Conway. Not impressed with the props though, they had some trouble against Uruguay and were bested by a young 3rd/4th choice Romanian front row.

From the other teams, I thought Romania's young props Badiu, Tarus and Pristavita did great and Uruguay fullback Gaston Mieres is a great attacking player.
