Does anyone know if the current stats of players in the game can be changed? Or do you have to create a new player?

I have what I think is a sensible question:
How do you permanently change the arrangement of the squad?
For example, I would like to put Mehrtens in to first five for the All Blacks, and Carlos Spencer on the bench. Can I just move Mehrtens there in the squad editor, or do I need to create a new Mehrtens (based on the original) and then put him in, and do the same with Spencer to put him on the bench?
Edit: Ah. I saw the video. I think this may be done under Squad Management.

shane how editable is the pc version? i remember 2001 was just a load of .gifs i think ,so it was very easy to edit. can u have a look in the files?

in team management u just have to put him in the starting lineup and save the game anh he will be there everytime u play!
