Leinster: R Kearney; I Nacewa, F McFadden, G D'Arcy, L Fitzgerald; J Sexton, I Boss; H van der Merwe, R Strauss, M Ross, L Cullen ©, D Browne, K McLaughlin, S O'Brien, J Heaslip. Replacements-S Cronin, J McGrath, N White, D Toner, S Jennings, E Reddan, I Madigan, E O'Malley.

Damian Browne starting is a big surprise.

Rob Kearney at fb is a big call, Kidney's interfering could have a big impact on Leinster's season.

If Kidney was interfering Cronin would be starting ahead of Strauss, Jennings would be in instead of McLaughlin and Hagan would be on the bench before White. I think these are all Joe Schmidt's calls rather than a dictat from Ireland's head coach.

I can't say I agree with all the decisions but there's a reason I'm posting on fans forums and Joe Schmidt is coach to the current European champions. He knows what he's doing and I don't!

I disagree, Cronin, Jennings, McLaughlin and Hagan are all fringe players in the Irish XV. How could Joe drop Nacewa for Kearney after last season, he's one of(if not the) major catalyst for Leinster's style of play. Kearney can't read the game or counter attack like Nacewa can and he is just plain slow, like he's demonstrated a couple of times this season already.

Well can 100% say Kidney hasn't interfered with Munster and I think Snoop is right these are Schmidt's calls. I agree Leinster loose something when Nacewa isn't at 15 but apart from maybe Carr his options were slim for back 3 although if I were coach I'd have swapped Kearney and Nacewa but as Snoop said the man is a European champion.

Also if Kidney was involved Reddan would be starting but I think Schmidt is rewarding form when internationals were away and well Browne has possibly been selected as he has experience of playing in France and that could be a factor.

Some strange decisions and clearly Schmidt is overly sure about Toner. I think it could pay off as Browne has more workhouse like power which we will need against such a physical pack. Hopefully he can step up to such a challenge. I hope Nacewa can come into the game more and Kearney can attack better (and defend) at fullback if not Nacewa needs to move back to 15! Hopefully we can bag a win as it would be a brilliant start in arguably are toughest game.

González Amorosino can be so good at times... if only he were a bit more consistent...
I'm liking this game so far.

Aye, been a great game so far
Ouedraogo is all over O'Brien at the moment

I thought he may have been pinged for obstruction, one of Pearson's favourite offences IMO.

Good to see he wasn't, as it was a brilliant piece of play, especially the off load.

I have never been disappointed when watching Montpellier, been a good game so far.

I like that Monteplleier kit. Thought this game was a later kick off so missed first 20 mins or so.

Me thinks SOB will be shifted to 6 and Jennings brought on at ht. Wouldn't mind seeing Reddan as well.

Some of Leinster's passes have been too stupid or robotic. If someone actually looked there were huge gaps that could have been exploited with a straight runner (especially that last phase before Montpellier kicked through for that try) but they keep passing it wide where nothings on!

"Gorgodze will probably move to 8....Gorgodze with the take....Gorgodze....GORGODZIILLLLAAAAA"

Who was that who just ran over SOB?!

Not many who can him look like Ronan O'Gara

Leinster making no ground when they shove it wide, when they let the fatboys run with it they get some headway and yet they keep feeding it wide. Wake up Leinster

They're getting turned over loads as well - backrow being outclassed by Montpellier

Quality little break by Cronin though

I keep thinking Remy Martin (if he's who is wearing no. 20) is Richie Gray, it's the hair/shirt colour combination
