HEC: Leinster - Glasgow (20-11-2011, 12:45)

Finally a try for warriors!

The sky sports coverage is a major Leinster love in... TBH I think if you could be sexually attracted to a team this lot would be for sure. :p

Glasgow are sooooo ****!

Thought Leinster were good, but not amazing. Still, 5 points is 5 points.

An efficient game from Leinster and its great to see they have worked on the breakdown from last week. They were brilliant in the first half and fell of abit on the second however their defence was very good throughout. I thought Heaslip had a great game as did O'Malley and all of the back three.

Heaslip was back to playing some good rugby, Finally. O'Malley has thrown his name into the pot for the Irish 13 shirt along with Griffen (Who is cursed with playing for Connacht and therefore has no chance) and Cave (TBH Earls will probably get it with Mafi as back up <_<)

This and the five tries are the main positives to take from today, Glasgow were quite poor and after try number 2 they didn't put up a fight.
Cronin continued his good form and Strauss looked better than last week after coming on, Healy wasn't great but he was better than Heinke, Toner was good and Browne isn't up to scratch IMO. SO'B was very quiet as was Mclaughlan, Reddan and Boss are still basically equals and the back line functioned well.

7 points and top of the pool isn't bad after two matches especially as one of them was away in France. 6 to 8 points in the head to head should do the the trick to get us through safely with the home quarter.

I can't see Leinster doing much better than the quarters though, we're not the team we were last year Hines being the biggest loss, Damien Browne as I said isn't good enough and was a stupid investment by the IRFU. Drico isn't a huge loss TBH I think if our back row had been functioning and we had Hines the Sky boys wouldn't be talking about us missing him at all.

Leinster are still very much favourites, and I think they should now go through the pool unbeaten and get a home draw, so who exactly are you frightened will come and beat Leinster in Dublin?

Any French team with the ability to make it through their Group i.e Toulouse, Biarritz (If they decided to turn up), Clermont (minus Brock James) or the Welsh regions minus The Ospreys could all beat us. Munster as well would beat us, not that their a better team just that their really up for the HEC this year and their my dark horses to win it.

If we draw an English side we'll be alright (Granted NH don't pull off a miracle)

no French side has a chance of beating Leinster away apart from maybe Toulouse and even then they would be outsiders, Leinster have proved they are above Munster at the moment, Leinster have good records against Cardiff and Scarlets, I would be very surprised if a) Leinster lost any matches in their pool b) didn't get a home quarter final c) lost that quarter final

SOB was grand I thought when he was on, few trademark runs and good hands out to Nacewa to set up the try.

We are still building and a have players to come back. I'm glad we haven't peaked yet and we are continuing to improve untill hopefully by the quarters we should but up to that standard. TBH I haven't been overly impressed by anyone yet and at the moment we just need to take it a step at a time preparing for the future to put us in the best position possible.

Tad melodramatic cmac. Leinster should really be expecting to make the semis at least. The only teams I'd be worried about beating us at home are Toulouse and Munster.

Not sure about Quins there full of confidence and are not losing games.

I still think Toulouse will win but once it's into the knock out it's anyone's. Noboby seems to have set the HC on fire yet.

Agree Saints will need a miracle at the hands of Munster, if we scrape through well you never know.

I think we'll mess up in the quarters this year, I'd be very happy to be wrong. Also I'm really afraid of the Scarlets and I think Cardiff could beat us too.

I don't know what to make of Eoin O'Malley. He's been solid and unspectacular in the Magners League/Pro 12 but in the Heineken Cup he's stepped up big time. He seems to have developed a much better partnership with Gordon D'arcy than Fergus McFadden. I'd be inclined to leave O'Malley in the 13 shirt and have McFadden battle with D'arcy for the 12 jersey.

I think last years tournament goes to show nobody should be making predictions at this stage.
