HB has let TRF down

Maybe they haven't rendered complete graphics yet?
As I said above, work in progress pics don't really interest me, as in the grand scheme of things, they don't mean a lot to the finished product

Fair enough, I just always find it interesting to see how they progress. Would like to see more input from HB, what they're doing this week/month. Kinda like Sidhe.

Which is fair enough, and are fair, reasonable suggestions.

Your reply seriously gave me a brain fart.

EDIT: I mean that I was stupid, and couldn't work it out. I understand now. derp.

As a man who has had to deal with the legal fallout of a podcast containing the SOUND of F1 cars without appropriate licenses (despite having a plethora of reporting licenses), I can assure you that sports licensing and publishing of any kind is an incredibly delicate, complicated and potentially very costly arena, and one in which a small publisher such as HB really can't afford to make mistakes. Would you rather one screenshot now, and no game after they get sued to pieces?

Now where did I put my AK47 and Molotovs...

I think toup has, as always, perfectly demonstrated my point.

My situation is hypothetical. I don't know who the publisher is or if one has been secured (I am 99.99% sure that one has or we'd be well aware that the game was dead in the water now, it's not) but ultimately, if the publisher is in clandestine negotiations for licenses and so on, again, which I am only assuming, then I would imagine that said publisher would be locking down all information until it's done.

Any new publisher will have to pick up from where EA Sports left off, as they have been confirmed as having NOTHING to do with the game. That will involve re-negotiation of all existing deals, and of course SIDHE/HES will be chasing licenses as well.

At the end of day, when information comes through, I am 100% sure it will be worth the wait. It just requires ongoing patience.

The thing I dont get and dont think I'll ever get is that establishments like adidas and Coka Cola are pretty much getting money to get there products advertised in sports video games. If I wer ever to develop a video game, and i doubt I ever would, I'd explain it to them like this; I am willing to advertise your product in my video game for free or for a small fee

Definitely dropped the ball HB. Would have been better holding off announcing the potential release another 6-12 months rather than announcing and then providing little to nothing for a year. Amatuer mistake creating all this buzz only for it to fizzle to next to nothing. Best be an extremely good game but so far Rugby challenge has my $100.

I can't help but feel that the info from HB really dried up around the time Sidhe started making major announcements about licensing etc on their game. You get the sneaking suspicion HB were cruising up to that point on a repackaged rugby 08 and when it broke that not only was there a competing ***le set for release, but that it had already accumulated several major licenses and had features that had long been requested, they had an oh **** moment and are now desperately trying to come out with something that will shift the balance of interest back in their favour.

I actually hope this is the case as there hasn't been a ruggers game in years and I find it hard to believe anyone who got 08 on PC and has applied the latest mods, could possibly be satisfied with rugby 08 with a fresh coat of paint. I feel as a consumer its fair for us to want HB to struggle with the boundaries of what they can do and deliver a better rugby game and not a piece of junk trying to make some quick cash on the back of WC interest and the desperation of rugby starved gamers.

So is it fair for us to make demands of HB and tell them we are getting apathetic about their product. You bet your ass it is, because if they want the sales, they'll have to earn it now.

There has been little information since the third Q and A which was November time.

Let's be patient ! I am sure that if we don't get informations, it's only because HB can't give any ! As soon as they will be able, they will tell us things. And Once again, thanks to Mario from Sidhe for giving us infos on both projects. I am really in a hurry to play those games (if you need a tester in France, HB or Sidhe...).

And maybe we'll get some news just befor the 6 nations tournament crunch between england vs les Bleus... Tha t would have been a brilliant marketing idea for the northern hemisphere coverage.

Guys,

Rest assured the game is moving forward according to plan and that we're as excited to share the work we've been doing for the past year as you are excited to see what we've been up to.

As a couple of you have suggested above, there are many moving parts here that require coordination and as we're not inclined to make the first look of the game one big blur, it'll be a little while longer before you catch your first glimpses of Rugby 2012.

Sit tight, enjoy the rugby through the Six Nations, consider donating to the Christchurch recovery effort and we'll have more for you soon.

Thanks guys,
A.

This.

This.

The fact that there is now competition could not come as better news. I'm just praying that a) they will both be competing for years to come, b) they won't rely on securing exclusive licenses to "buy" themselves the better game and shut out competition, as is the case with Madden.

I also agree with TC. It is all very well listing hundreds of reasons as to why they can't share anything with us yet, but they promised us that we would get exclusive inside news and updates, which we havent, so they have failed. It enraged me slightly that they thought giving us a look at the developer's personalities around Christmas time would be an adequate substitute for info on the game. It's also driving me mad that we still haven't got anything whatsoever, despite the fact that we were told that we might have had something before the new year... I know how I'm coming across, you could type "patience blah blah blah" comments, all day long, but it's not going to take away from the frustration.

P.S. 17 - 9.

P.P.S. I realise I am not an exceedingly integral member of these forums, but I visit most, if not every day, and would like to point out that I realise it is not TRF's fault at all, and I'm mighty impressed with the amount of input from the admins.

Major reason why their can't be any information release is without a doubt definitely down to a publisher not wanting them to do so. So I will reiterate the stance of being patience. Things comes to those who wait ;).
