Good wingers in rugby

I think that NZ players (outside the AB squad) are overrated and are only considered top players because of the myth that hangs around New Zealand in rugby.

In South Africa we also have players that would do good in NH teams like Jongi Nokwe, Odwa & Akona Ndungane, Gerard van den Heever and JJ Engelbrecht but I will never say these are World Class wingers. Even Stefan Terblanche is a pretty good winger despite his age but when it comes to World Class, we only have Habana and Pietersen.

When I look at New Zealand I only see a max. of 3 or 4 World Class wingers.

I have to say you are very wrong there. If theres one thing NZ can do its make outside backs.
South Africa undeniably have more depth in the forwards, but i can think of at least 20 guys that could step up to the All Blacks and do a great job if given the opportunity. Gillies Kaka can't even get a Super 14 spot for goodness sake, he would be the massaiah in any other country

Does that make them world class?

Potentially, yes. If they got the opportunity.
Its a coincidence that ONLY NZs current three wingers are world class... No doubt if Sivivatu was fit instead of Gear during the end of year tour and he was the one scoring all the tries he would be one of NZs only three world class wingers..
NZ do wingers well, theres no myth or mystique to that. Its just the truth

It seems that over the last few years South Africa and Australia have been opting for fullback/wingers or center/wingers... with Habana being the exception, although lately he hasn't been very "world class" but NZ seems to have at least one specialist winger starting each match, I'm not sure what to consider Cory Jane anymore... He's a world class winger but he's a fullback.

Sivivatu, Gear and Rokococo are the best three 'specialist' wingers in NZ

I don't see the use in that either. All I said is that most NZ wingers are good, not world class and that by a lot of people, the All Blacks are seen as some mythical team when it's just a top class Rugby team, nothing more.

Pfft, I once watched Hosea Gear bite the head off a unicorn. Fact.

Wow the All Blacks just top class team, doesn't say much about Sth Africa then....

Do you mean Chester Williams? ;)

The answer to this question all depends on the team they play in. Some wingers are fast (Habana, Rokocoko, Ngwenya), others have the ability to dodge and actually pass defenders in a different manner (Mvovo, Ashton, Bowe, Rougerie, Gear)

Shane Williams(Wales), George North(Wales), Leigh Halfpenny(Wales), Tommy Bowe(ireland),
Maxime Medard(France)

DtH Van Der Merwe is a good winger who playes for Glasgow Warriors. Also Sean Lamont is a good winger.
