You misread what he was saying.

Even if he was talking your team down, I hardly think an opinion on an internet forum can be used as a reason why your team won haha. I think it will have more to do with them outplaying their opposition than what a random person on the internet types.

Read those and tell me about the "hate" in the NZ media. There is ample respect and credit given to worthy final opponents, whom nobody is underestimating or talking down.

Honestly, I have no clue what you are talking about. Most of the journalists who you have named are foreigners. I have not seen anyone say that the final has already been won. Obviously we are backing ourselves but we are New Zealanders and we never expect our team to lose even though we know there is always a chance that they will. You have got to admit yourself that France have not looked good in this world cup and are extremely lucky to make the final. I think that is what most people are saying.

It seems all the french posters are ignoring that the named journalists so far are NOT New Zealanders. They are choosing to use that to label New Zealand media, when 50-60% of the New Zealand media are saying that France are a dangerous unpredictable team and capable of ending our cup if they actually turn up.

Of course most of the french in this thread are choosing to ignore all that, so they can build a case against New Zealand media, based on a few really bad examples of FOREIGN based media.

well the media are hardly going to heap praise on the French team. They lost two pool games - being well beaten by the All Blacks and handed Tonga victory. Was a miricle they made the quaters, lucky that Tonga had Lost a game they simply should have won. France were rubish against the welsh, failing to put away a side that only had 14 men for 60min.

But the reality is france are such a dangerous side, they can beat anyone on their day and they have Beaten the All Blacks more in recent history more than all other Northern sides combined they were the last side to beat the All Blacks on eden park, they were the last side to Beat the All Blacks in a world cup. They have always been a banana skin for the AB's, go back to the 70's when a touring french team was beaten by southland then when the weekend rolled around they beat the All Blacks! They deserve respect for that and their history.

Could say the welsh would be a better challenge for the AB's but the welsh haven't beaten the All Blacks in about 60 years......

If anything, this is showing that some of our french posters are having no trouble distorting the truth to pursue the sympathy card. For the third time I've said it and about the 6th time it's been mentioned in this thread, the quoted journalists at the start of this thread are not kiwis!

Also, yes there are kiwi journalists rubbishing Frances chances, but the majority are not. Most are saying that they are still capable of surprising any team when they have their day.

Our main national news went to the trouble to mention that New Zealand was an even shorter priced favourite to beat France in 1999 and didn't.

Personally, I think this thread is not far off outright lies.

I' am new in the happy and funny Anglosaxon World. I know almost nothing about New zealand appart theres is a lot of sheep. I admire their Rugby Team and find the people from very far sympathic. But for a french supporter it's a little bit boring. Nothing to shatter; no objet of mockery. With the English supporter that more easier you just have to say that France have the best team in the North hemisphere; or that France is in finale and Wales no and without fail he will explain to you all the French-English relation from One Hundred War to the Fakland war. But with New Zealand nothing to say. Like with Switzerland!
Also for for once could some english supporter explain to me how shatter this News Zealander?
