France fined $15,000 for haka advance

The rules are stupid.

But France know the rules and knew they'd get in trouble. Surely they just pay the fine and get on with life?

Whith this decision of IRB, the humiliation of the french rugby continuous while we cry our defeat
We should let the Anglo-Saxons play the rugby without us because according to them we are the shame of this sport.

I don't agree with that at all for numerous reasons.
One of them: there is no anglo saxon unity, most they do when they're not laughing at France is laugh at each other. We are a great rugby nation, everybody is glad we're here.

In a rugby world without France, NZ would have won 4 out of 7 world cups. That should be enough for other countries to like us :D

The rules are stupid and shouldn't be enforced.
It's ridiculous.
Remember the good old days where it would be face to face, and you didn't get banned for throwing a punch.
I miss the old days, used to get punched heaps when playing and it didn't worry me (used to deserve it most of the time :D)
Seriously though let other teams man up to the Haka, is stupid not to.

Absolutely crazy decision by the farce that is the IRB. France only stood up to the Haka to show they weren't going to be intimidated by it and the performance from the team reflected as much. Maybe New Zealand should be fined for doing the haka at the start of the game. Crazy!

This is why the rule is there. One wrong move away from carnage, and thats only schoolboys.

Bro, when I was at School fighting was commonplace, hell we were young full of testosterone and didn't have good risk/reward pathways built up from experience.
However since I turned 20 (many years ago) I haven't been in 1 fight.
So I think your video shows the opposite of what you're saying, if school boys can keep it under control, imagine how in control it would be with professional adults.

If anyone is looking for a haka translation:

Arise, children of the Fatherland,
The day of glory has arrived!
Against us of tyranny
The bloody banner is raised, (repeat)
Do you hear, in the countryside,
The roar of those ferocious soldiers?
They're coming right into our arms
To cut the throats of our sons and women!

To arms, citizens,
Form your battalions,
Let's march, let's march!
That an impure blood
Waters our furrows!

BTW there is a storry behind this song; I guess you know it ?

Please realise D'arcy that the vast (and I mean VAST) majority of Kiwis welcome the sort of thing that France did on Sunday night. Haka is a challenge, and the French responded to that challenge in a way that gains our respect.
someone explain it to the folks down at the irb

The fact that they're getting fined is a non-issue, in my opinion. The rules are obvious, and France knew the rules. They also willingly chose to break them. Anyone with half a brain should have seen the fine coming as soon as it happened.

Now, the rules being stupid is a matter of opinion, and I agree that they're dumb, but trying to make an outcry over this fine is dumber. It's like willfully driving 70 km/h when the speed limit is 50 and then arguing in court that the speed limit should be higher.

Can I point out that I have seen nowhere the FRU complaining about the fine ...

Load of rubbish, I am sure not many Kiwis were 'offended' by it and I am sure the All blacks didnt mind either. Rubbish rubbish rubbish

Rubbish rubbish rubbish

And also rubbish !

2500 pounds ? About 2850 € paid by 22 international pro rugby players = 130 € each...
Is this a joke ?
If you expect any efficiency you have to fine them 2500 pounds each !:D

yes they broke the rules and yes they intentionally went against them. i love the haka but i dont see why the other team should be forced to stand still and watch the new zealanders without making any response of their own

I like to think a so called 'war-dance' that often uses aggressive cries and throat slitting actions can be challenged without the bloody women at the top choking on their muesli.

This is utterly ridiculous - But nah France really just should have stood there and watched while NZ attempted to intimidate them in perhaps one of Frances most important rugby games ever. (Note my sarcasm)

No what is ridiculous is that people do not understand the process seem to want to put their 2c in, France did not have to just stand there and watch it they could have gone off and cracked a bottle of wine, held a team talk, gone for a walk in the stands, beheaded an aristocrat or gone back to the dressing rooms after the anthems well pretty much anything really except advance on it.

It really isn't rocket science sunshine, originally I thought this fine was a really dumb idea but the more ignorant responses I read from people who clearly have no idea what they are talking about the more I think the penalty should be increased.

So what was your point again?

So what was your point again?

I think it was that perhaps Abraham Lincoln had a point when he said "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."?

Outside that I am not sure any more.

now that would really set the stage, i think we go down this escalating road, we use a throat slitting gesture (even though its not)...and then they behead someone...and then someoneelse quarters someone. Get some real drama in the game, make this eye gouge stuff look like tiddly winks! ;)
