France 2014 Six Nations Thread

Parra probably to return as early as vs Scotland in Murrayfield.
Nyanga and Fofana both hurt, we'll see how that turns out.....

just had a look at the table (hadn't noticed it got updated here...). This is the most magnificent scenario I could possibly wish for from now on til the end of the tournament. Ireland is way ahead in points difference so they'd have to lose in France for us to win the ***le over them. But then there's those pesky English and Welsh sides...
So here's my most magnificent wish (which probably won't happen but it's fun to lay it out and see):
- France: We win MF and beat Ireland on the last w-e.
- Ireland: lose in France.
- Wales: loses by a very slim margin in Twickers then beat Scotland if they like.
- England: beats Wales and then loses for the first time in Rome, and lose to Italy for the first time ever. A long time coming, many many close results the last few years.

Everybody but us loses two matches (or more), we only lose the one. Bingo.

More likely: Wales win in Twickers but by a tiny margin and probably beat Scotland afterwards but by about 10, while we put a number on the Scots and then manage just enough points at home while beating the surging Shmidtmen.

Overall the tournament has got to be seen as a big failure but with a few asterisks ultimately. A bit of luck, but not as much as ppl are saying, helped us beat England, a team that would've went on to win the Grand Slam very likely. We blew a big lead and had to count on an incredible last minute clutch play to beat them.

And we managed a fine effort against Ireland. We scored 2 tries on them, when nobody did more than 1, and it obviously really should've been 3 no discussion and a win, but hey...Papé happened.

In light of this last game, I actually feel alright going to Australia for a 3-test series.
Let's not forget we didn't nearly have a first choice third row against Ireland, and Fofana and Fritz are to return.
Hopefully we get a more specialized winger than Médard this time.

And in the future, I think we should try out different Looseheads. Domingo was possibly the best scrummager in the world, or at least Top 3 on the left side, but he's actually getting penalized at scrumtime these days. Given he doesn't help a whole lot in the loose, he's just a liability.
We've definitely lacked from having a guy a bit like M.Vunipola or Healy who help out in the loose too. Domingo is just basically a scrummager.
