Looking forward to this getting underway, it's such a great tournament. One would have to be blinded not to notice that you marked every Biarritz fixture with a wink, except for their match away to the Harlequins. I think they can win that one, either way it's the most intriguing match of Day 1 to me, though I suppose they will make a bigger deal out of Toulouse v Leicester. And I'll bet Connacht are not at all displeased to be in the pool with Zebre who they know they can beat twice, and maybe they can get another rare Heineken cup upset like the one against the Quins at the Sportsground last year.

The reason I have not marked it with a wink is I am "afeared" of Quins at their patch!!

I believe we have a very good defensive pattern but, as Castres showed at the weekend, if our number one players are not available, for whatever reason, (and up for it) in the back line, we have a frailty there plus, even with our best backs on show, we are not likely to be able to keep up with Quins if they can cut loose and score as freely as they are readily able to do and have shown this and last season. I know that we are second best on points in the league this season but have played a couple of the weaker teams at home..............

We do miss the injured Yach but Lesgourges is having a very good season and am not too worried about him but, he is not Yach, who should be back by the end of the year. Fly half is still a problem and our inside centre, Traille, is not the player he was in attack and now is a bit like Tindall - hold the ball and bash......IF the ball gets passed by him and Gimenez we have the wings in Ngwenya and Brew (who has been terrific for us this season) to finish but they need the ball. Balshaw is inconsistent...he has been brilliant but tends not to show this on the big stage and cannot remember when he had a good H Cup match for us! If either of Baby or Buruto have to play we could be like a sieve!!

i think it could be a good match but am not confident enough on this one................yet no doubt the Sky commentators (especially Dewi) will again be pumping up the unbelievable talent we have at our disposal but which we consistently fail to utilise arguing that we prefer the "stick it up the jumper" !! I hope they do stick it up their jumper at the Stoop......leave the entertainment to someone who cares!!!

There will be official threads going up for the Heineken Cup. It's quite a big deal by all accounts.

In the week running up to each round there will be invidividual threads going up for each game, as opposed to how we're doing it atm with the club rugby where we have one thread for the whole round.
