Fiji vs Tonga RWC warm up

Nili Latu was asked by Maka to go to Fiji for those 2 tests. He didnt. So the Board said it wasnt fair to others.REALLY!Since when has fairness been part of it?The prop Filise has never played for Tonga in PN Cup or Fiji,in fact not for a long time. Now hes in.How does that go with the Boards rule of fairness. You would think hes in the same category as Latu wouldnt you?
Absolutely ridiculous!

No Pepa Koloamatangi or Nili Latu...We have a Hooker who was converted into a flanker(Sione Vaiomounga) and specialist 8 to cover the openside Flanker spot. Tongan Rugby Board is a joke. Nili Latu used his own Money to fly out and didnt get picked. For a guy who has so much pride for the Tongan Jersey(comnpared it to being an All Black on the IRB show Total Rugby) to get slapped in the face like that is just ridiculous.

Any info on how the Team is brynlyon? The boys all together in this or are there mixed emotions amongst the boys?

My source tells me the players were split on the Nili Latu issue. The thing they cant understand is how Isotolo Maka keeps changing his stance on players who he has previously said he would never select again for Tonga. His credibility as a coach is zero. Not that he does much coaching apparently.I understand Toutai Kefu does the forwards and Chris Boyd the backs.
I guess we will see the results of this distraction when the get on the field in NZ.

I watched Tonga train for last years PNC Isitolo Maka didnt do much. Maka sat in the stands while Siua Taumalolo coached the backs while John Edwards(Local Coach) took care of the fowards. Pretty average preperations for an International side. In saying that Isitolo Maka is head coach and under Maka Tonga have preformed well.

STOP PRESS-apparently LATU is back in the squad.Parliament overturned the Boards decision today.THe IRB will now suspend them after the World Cup!Tonga are now the pariahs of World rugby and not just rugby.Their Government is an absolute joke!

this is beyond a joke now, most Tongan rugby fans would agree Latu should be in the team, but the time for sorting this mess out was in the Spring before the initial provisional squad was named, not wait right up until the deadline for the squads to be named

I think Latu should be in the team, but it's too late now, imagine how Vaiomo'unga who will probably be the guy who makes way would feel if Latu comes back

It will be interesting to see if the IRB have the balls to take some action against Tonga BEFORE the World Cup.I feel sorry for Vaiomo'unga-he is gone. But how does Latu feel now that he will be taking Tonga out of international rugby?

So what does this mean for Tonga post RWC are they now suspended from the IRB? Are they allowed to compete internationally?? and will they be apart of next years Pacific Nations Cup??? this whole situation seems out of control and yes I feel for Vaiomo'unga who will probably be the victim if he does return to the team. But there is no doubt about Nili's abilities on the Openside Flank position, his presence in the team will definatly give it a more complete look. Regardless of what happens with Nili, this whole situation with the Tongan board seems to be a total fiasco and is getting out of control. Here is a link to confirm what brynylon has said.

Nili Latu is out again!Obviously the IRB have put pressure on the Government.Apparently now he is a NON-TRAVELLING reserve! For how long we might ask!

I guess it's only fair to the guy who was selected to go in his place as he was already told of his selection (likely Sione Vaiomounga). Players get injured after the first game of the RWC so I think it will only be a matter of time before he joins the team.

I agree with you-he might get injured before he leaves Tonga!

I agree brynlyon I wouldn't be surprised if Vaiomo'unga was "INJURED" during Tonga Pre World Cup camp. Tonga probably used "Nili Latu is a non travelling reserve" as another cover up to avoid IRB sanctions.

I feel for Vaiomo'unga, but I wouldn't be complaining if Nili Latu was in the squad. The team looks considerably stronger with Latu (especially the backrow). My only concern is if The 'IKALE TAHI boys preperations have been disrupted and if the boys have mixed feelings as a squad.
