Just watched the UK's song making documentary about Blue.

Got to say im impressed with the tune, and its good for once that we have gone and thought about this meaning we have gone away from what we think Europe will like instead of what Europe like. The tune is catchy, I don't think it will win it for us but it should make sure we don't finish in the bottom.

It was a Meh song. But Nil point yet again? That really does show they hate us and has got nothing to do with any act we send.

Which generally does worse than any other.

Eurovision isn't about having a good song, if anything it's detrimental, it's about having something super cheesy and edgy. It's why proper artists avoid it, they would never actually win.

I mean it can still be a good song and super cheesy or edgey though.
Lordi and even this years winners are good example of the latter.

TBH I quite liked a couple songs this year for once.


Popular artists avoid cause there is literally nothing to gain and everything to lose. Even if the songs are based entirely on merit they wouldn't enter.

Abba, Celina Dione are two examples off the top of my head of artists who did make it post Eurovision. Dione was singing for Swtizerland IIRC.

So glad when Graham Norton took over he kept up the sarcasm rather than trying to pretend Eurovision is fantastic.
