Mae Muller: Why did the UK do so badly at Eurovision?

The singer scored a genuine hit with I Wrote A Song, so why did voters award her so few points?

I didn't think she sang that well last night.

Probably not worth a new thread so: UK Null points from the public proving once again we are hated in the rest of Europe and Australia.

Tbf it was a bad song and a bad performance (I didn't watch all of the show but it was easily the worst vocal performance of any I saw)
I'm surprised it did as well as it did

Think the Sam Ryder year shows it's not all just "UK bad" and that if we actually try we can do well

It was a bland song from what I remember hearing it


I feel like Sam Ryder proves we are not hated, they just hate the fact we pick mediocre singers who sing mediocre songs

The tunes he did with Years and Years were far better than what was served up last night. Think they tried to be too clever going for a retro Pet Shop Boys type tune which was never going to appeal to the other countries.

I think it gives the Euro public/Australia public all the more reason not to like us. Nil points. Think it was the 1 point last year. The juries at least gave 46 points.

Eurovision: What does the UK have to do to win?

The UK hasn't won Eurovision for 27 years. Is there any way to turn our fortunes around?
