England Vs Ireland

FUUUCCKKKKK

At least England played some rugby...eventually

Mears and Foden to stay in the team hopefully

At the risk of sounding like a sore loser, at what point does Mark Lawrence start awarding penalties and yellow cards for persistant slowing the ball down?

One positive though, Foden has shown that he's better than Armitage and should be starting for England.
Also, Deacon is poo, and Lawes should be on the bench or starting next match (depends how bad Shaws injury is)

Congratulations Ireland...

French TV commentators permanently complaining about the ref not judging Irish errors under the rucks, but to be balanced IMO with all the whites coming or acting while on the side...

Wow. Big relief.

England need a new 10 badly. Their lack of clinicality killed them. Our defence was superb. 99 tackles to one missed. Foden looked very sharp when he came on for England and we were outmuscled for long periods of the game. Tommy Bowe is probably now our best back what with O'Driscoll being short of form (hope he's ok by the way). Sexton had a good game. He missed some hard kicks and slipped a bit but overall a positive display. Very happy with Keith Earls today, looked lively and dangerous in attack. O'Gara did quite well when he came on, put a really nice kick in. I'm delighted anyway. Cheers England, good game.

Oh just saw a zoom in on the Cole drive, was a try afterall. Good call.

EDIT: A quick synopsis of tha the game: England lost because, while they can get a hell of a lot of the ball, they can neither attack nor defend.

Lads what a game from both teams. :bravo:

Not stirring it but is Wilko finished as he was very poor.
Strange call to replacing Care with Hodgson.

As for Ireland.
- Front 5 wasn't great but Cullen and (can't believe it) Buckley made huge impacts.
- I know I putting my head out there but we have 1 of best backrows in world.
Ferris was immense, Wally was superb and edit that best 8 in world Harinordoquy playing well now But Heaslip always plays well.
- Earls was brilliant too and adapted well moving to centre and produced the goods excellently.
- D'Arcy was great today too.
- Bowe is possibly the best winger in the world over last 12 months.
- Sexton was excellent too and well ROG was brilliant too when coming on and made tackles.
I've defended ROG when people put him down because like today he is best in world playing corners and Kidney got change perfect regarding time and decision. Sexton has to start with ROG coming on like that.
- Tomas O'Leary got alot of crap too but today even Hook & Co said Reddan hadn't done enough to earn 9 shirt and I think Tomas was vital in defense and he getting bit bold which is good for his game.

With all my complaining about Lawrence, I should say he made a balls of it for both teams at time...

Mixed emotions here, I'm delighted as an Irish fan but devastated as an English fan, I was hoping for an England win simply so that the pressure could be kept up on France.

It was an alright game in general, not too much try line action, but some pieces of play none-the-less.

I don't think because of this defeat England will be less dangerous and motivated for beating us, to deny us the Slam should be enough !

I'm starting to think maybe England just don't have the players this year:

There is no second world-class lock. Shaw does his bit, and Borthwick is good in the lineout, but average elsewhere. Kennedy is the same. Lawes is not ready this year. Deacon is GP standard at best.

There isn't a complete backrower. Each have their positives, but there is no Parisse, Heaslip, Smith, McCaw or Harinodoquy. No one with a complete game.

There is no world-class fly half. Wilkinson diminishing daily, Flood lacks something special, Geraghty fluffs it, Cipriani is a douche, Hodgson can't do anything right for England, Myler has no experience. I could go on and on.

There is no international quality crashball centre in the whole of the English game. Clarke, Hape, Barritt, Waldouck are good but far from the finished article. I don't think the team would be any better with these players in the starting XV.

England have picked their best fit players in every position, and the gameplan is wrong but maybe there just aren't enough good footballers? The H-Cup performances by English clubs tells us something too.

I wasn't talking about motivation, just that had we of won today, beat Scotland and then beat you we'd have won the Grandslam, the the pressure on France would be a lot higher in the England match if we'd have gone in on level points rather than you being ahead of us.
