Ireland: 2014 Six Nations

Its allllll starting to make sense now. Jigs up Big Ginger Muff

Hopefully Schmidt uses him now as we need pace. Thought Bowe was going to be a tight call we need him but was it to big a risk. But I think it probably more to take focus off that and he'll be release on Friday with few more. Just there to hold bags but hope I wrong.
On omission of TOD - I'd be saying this even if he was fit that out of all options Jordi Murphy was quietest and least deserving of bench and Ruddock most deserving. If POM out start Henderson put D. Ryan on bench and Ruddock. If Henry injured POM can play 7. Ruddock covers 6/8. Ryan covers 6 too. It's great to see Strauss in too and hopefully he can play part.

I'd love to see this back line after the six nations.

9. Murray
10. Sexton
11. Fitzgerald/Zebo
12. Marshall
13. Cave
14. Bowe
15. Payne

Attack written all over it. And with the way our forwards are playing, this back line will thrive off the go forward. I know Payne isn't ready till November but couldn't resist.

Good club backlibe. Pretty Average international one.

We're all happy with the 3 years and you're a paddy rule? And people used to laugh at the soccer team, this takes plastic paddy to a whole new level.

Why is it an average international one?

You might have to scratch Luke Marshall from that lineup.

Stuart Olding will hopefully return from his ACL without losing his step.

Because Zebo, Marshall, Cave & Payne and even Fitzgerald have all yet to prove that they are better then average at international level. they might well do that in time but it is not a given. Too many Irish rugby fans think showing good form in the HEC automatically means you will shine at international level.

Ah such a narrow minded view. You wonder why New Zealand is constantly on top of the world of rugby is because when a player is playing well in the Super15 they get their chance to prove themselves on the international stage. Look at Julian Savea, Charles Piutau, etc. Marshall is a good player and seems to be a solid international who will get better with age and experience, same with Cave and Zebo. Fitzgerald is always international quality, but only if he is played in his correct position, which is wing in my view.

Jaysus would you relax. I never said they the lads don't deserve a chance to prove what they can do. The question was asked what about that backline and i merely suggested that it looks pretty average as an international back line in the here and now, they might turn out to be worldbeaters but lets see how they get on.

I forgot about Olding. If he picks up from where he left off when he comes back then he's definitely someone worth considering. He's a bit like Giteau in the way he plays and would interesting to see Ireland with that extra dimension from 12.

I'm thinking progressively. D'Arcy will need to be replaced sooner or later. BOD is retiring. We need more cutting edge out wide. I feel the players I picked are the way forward. They are players who are in form and key players for their respective provinces. You don't know if they will be international quality until they are given consistent exposure at that level. They've ticked the boxes for their provinces and now it's time that they are given a shot for their country. What backline would you like to see after the six nations?
