England vs Australia - 09/11/24

I had reasonable confidence for Scotland in a couple of weeks, not so much now.

Better team won, atleast England will have to answer some questions, narrowly squeaking a win in a game were we're pretty poor would do England no long term favours, I think we have learned Ford has no place in the squad, SB needs to go and Slade needs replacing, Underhill should be somewhere in the squad for the momentum swings he brings.

Fair play Australia. Reacted well to England's early pressure and complete exposed our defence in attack. Fully deserved the win.

England have huge problems because they are going backwards. They don't look like a team. Any substitution completely disrupts the flow of the team.

Smith played well overall, especially in attack. Less so from the tee and in defence. Itoje was good. Sleightholme only sub to come out with some credit really.

Borthwick hasn't got a clue. England literally play two completely different styles within the same game and there is 0 cohesion. Subs don't have an impact and aren't the right players.

Austin talking about defense, I agree but steve should of been able to keep his staff together sibce jones had this ticking in a really nice direction, replacement didn't even run it previously

England losing games consistently in the last 20. Got to be an under a 50% win ratio with SB now. We've just lost at home to the 9th ranked team in the world.

Expect to end the Autumn 1/4 now and that's not good enough.

Seems to match up every time Smith is off or moved.

It is crazy, this player pool is better than this, actively making them worse

There's no excuses really, they're going backwards. They seemed to get a hard-on racing into an early lead and thought they were going to steamroll them. Can't think of any other reason to fall off so many tackles. Aussies skills were good looking for offloads which were going to hand and breaking the English line. If Borthwick had chosen to blood some new players and try some new combinations would at least be half an excuse.

The shift from positive to negative rugby depending on the score is wild. England had the tools and ability to win that by 15 but their play as front runners is so bad, which is a symptom of really ordinary phase to phase play.

Think I'm changing my tune to 10 Smith 15 Smith. The gamebreaking ability mixed with an assured 10 working with the power game has the potential to be world beating. Would be a Mo'unga Beaufy type dynamic.

I'm going to a gig next week and was annoyed to be missing it
Not so much anymore

Watch him shithouse his way to a win. It's a theme of SB run, every aspect of his run has gone backwards or gotten worse. These paper over cracks type of moments like last year the World Cup run against average teams or the win against Ireland this year.
