England Squad Announced

...and whats the deal with Worsley these days? He's a good tackler and a British Lion, whats holding him back?

He's about 85

He's a good tackler and that's pretty much it - he fit in with old gameplan of pick and drive and pick and drive and pick and drive and kick but doesn't fit in to the new style of England play

Oh well, what would you have for Englands back three? Mine would be: 6. Croft 7. Robshaw 8. Haskell with either Wood or Moody on the bench. But it will probably be Croft, Moody and Easter starting.

I'd rather have Wood and Moody for Robshaw, Wood is fast and Moody is maddog:p. Would love to see Haskell at 8. Fast/Strong/Agile and good ball handeling.

6. Croft
7. Wood
8. Haskell

19. Robshaw

Seems a little lightweight in the flanks, but I think that Robshaw is a better 6, and Croft is needed for his lineout work - However seeing Robshaw at 7 with Wood on the bench wouldn't be the end of the world...

Though I agree, it'll be Croft/Moody/Easter, probably Haskell on the bench

I think playing Easter against Wales would be a big mistake - he may have scored a fair few trys against Wales in the past, but he's so slow, and the Welsh back row are so fast and have such high workrates, we'd basically be playing with two back rows as he'd never make it to the rucks on time

I agree about Haskell. Moody is certain to start but he keeps braking himself. Also another problem; apart from Moody we have no clear cut captain. I shreik in horror at the thought of Tindall or Easter lifting the world cup. I'd much rather see Jonno come down and do his famous 'roar lift' again.

When he re-learns how to score tries I'll give it some consideration.

Don't really mind Mears going other than it means Chuter is going to go to NZ

Boo,, no Waldrom. The purity brigade will be happy, but I wanted him for the game. :(

Doran-Jones, Monye and Payne have (apparently) returned to their clubs

Which means 7 more to be cut

I think something along the lines of:

1) Robshaw
2) Simpson
3) Sharples
4) Tuilagi OR Hape
5) Flutey OR Hodgson
6) Botha
7) Fourie

Good selections to leave for me except for Robshaw but isnt established enough in england elite

Danny Care has just been ruled out of the WC

Balls.

He's not amazing, but he's at least consistent, and useful to have in the squad

Bet Johnson feels a dick for not trying out Simpson against Wales now

Taking bets on Harry Ellis coming out of retirement :p

Damn, such a shame for him and for England. Plays well when he comes on after 60.

Is Youngs expected to start against Ireland? If not Wigglesworth and Simpson on the bench? Or the other way round?

I'd imagine, as Youngs is just back from injury, Wigglesworth will start with Youngs on the bench

Simpson really should get a run out against Ireland now. Better player than Care anyhow.

And Johnson should feel like a dick whether or not he'd played Simpson vs Wales!!
