England Six Nations Squad 2025

Anwanyu is going to France. Is he even getting a game for Quins?

Centres will be addressed in the summer...I hope

I mean Dingwall ****** all over Slade and would be some much needed glue in the team but yeah let's look for some inconsistent kid who's not earned anything yet.

Looking at an inconsistent kid is pretty much what the A team is for. I'd be more than happy if Dingwall got the gig should Slade be injured, but there's not a lot of point in giving him the A team spot.

Probably you

Watch Mitchell and Smith tour with the Lions and SB start Slade because he wants some experience in the backline
I don't have a Wikipedia account so how would I do that?
Don't you need to be a moderator or pay for it?

I mean I'd consider him at 12 this 6N, sure - but I'm on about the A game and I think using the 12 spot in the A team to get him game time is a waste. We already know he can hang at international level, what's the point in continuing to play him at the level below over someone else we could get a look at?

Yeah that's the fear...but surely even he knows we MUST trial some of the youngsters now.

Sorry, agree with that, get one of the young 12s for the A game. In fact we've been lacking a 12 for so long I'd play two 12s , one at 12 and one at 13.

It's obvious that we aren't going to win the six nations at this point, so I think it's reasonable that our target should be a 4th place finish.

I feel we are not in a position to target the top 3 teams in the northern hemisphere and instead should concentrate on beating a strong Italian side, whilst preventing a banana skin slip up against wales.

Unfortunately I don't see England beating France even at home, our target should be not getting nilled, like wales did. If we can get three points on the board that'll be the progress Borthwick has promised us.

Scotland away will be too much of a challenge, they play and open attacking form of rugby with strong fast wingers, something we've proven over the last 8 games unable to defend against. So our target should be to be within 14 points at the end of the game.

It sad how far we've fallen over the years, but the poor quality of the coaches and players the academy are putting out isn't helping.

I wouldn't be shocked if no English players make the lions main squad, can see it being a all Irish and Scottish affair with the English and Welsh playing the random midweek games

You play Scotland at home, Twickenham

Agreed. I really like Dingwall, he seems to do a lot of the unflashy stuff at Saints, which enables the others to flourish around him, but I think we have to look a few years younger for someone with a higher ceiling.
Or we need a little experience still. Ireland have the highest average age. I think Dingwall is only 25 so not exactly an OAP.

How would you all rate our defence today?

I think overall it went well, we wernt constantly getting out wide and held our line well. Last 20 we were gassed and holes opened but I think we thought Ireland would kick more but they didn't and we just absorbed loads of energy sapping tackles and faded.

But I do think defence has improved(not perfect) but we need to focus on getting a real attack(or attack coach :) )

I disagree with this completely. I think the Academies are churning out lots of very good players, the issue is the prem. It's not turning that young talent into battle hardened players ready for European and Intentional games.

Defences are optional at prem level at times ..yet international defences are brick walls.

Murley showed that yesterday. He's a quality player but jeez he was a rabbit in the headlights.

I've been a SB supporter, but that is changing quite quickly now and whilst we can blame SB for a lot of things some things he can not be blamed for ..and a lack of battle ready international players is certainly not his fault.

Eg When our top props are Genge and Stuart there's not much SB can do....

So onto France.

The 3 open sides was a qualified success and it could never be more than that. Competitive at the breakdown but compromises elsewhere.

Not got many minutes in his legs, but surely Chessum comes in. Probably at 6 but wouldn't discount him in the row - like Martin but he's not currently having the impact he initially did.

Surely Earl at 8 has run its course. He's not in the greatest form and I think he's been found out a little. We need more heft there - Willis is the Prem form horse, although I didn't really notice him yesterday. CCS isn't the complete footballer but he brings natural power and we already know that he can give go forward at this level and land some big hits.

No competition in the front row and Itoje's nailed on.

Behind I really have no idea. But just one observation - the best teams in this tournament really, in very different ways, dance to the tunes of their 9s. Don't really have to say much more on Dupont, while I'd say JGP is Ireland's most important player. Mitchell is clearly our best option. But when was the last time an English 9 was a really dominant force?

Dingwall reminds me very much in the mould of Barritt. Not is style, but the fact that he was the leader of the backs in defence and attack.
Barritt was Farrells eyes and ears for many years as Dingwall is for Smith.
Most good 10s rely on the 12 to be their eyes and ears.
