Love Easter, but his race is run. If either Ben or Billy are unavailable then we look younger, whether that be Beaumont or whoever.

And whatever you might think of Hughes eligibility, the bloke's a hell of a rugby player. Does he jump enough to be considered as a lock?

FWIW my starting flankers for the 6N would be Kvesic and Robshaw. I think CR has been given a raw deal being asked to play 7 and captain the team when it's clear he's not a leader and I think he deserves a crack at the 6 shirt free of those pressures. Not saying he's long term but being around for a while will help bed the newcomers in.

What about Evans at Gloucester? He looks to have decent potential.

Marler, George, Wilson - Scrummaging.
Attwood, Launchbury - Grunt, line out.
Robshaw, Kvesic, Ewers - Tackle, fetch, carry.

Sorted.

I don't think so, just number 8.
But then i don't think of him as an England prospect, and will not cheer him if we do decide to cap him.

Surely having Ewers in the squad means we don't need a third 8?

I know I prefer him at 6 (if only because I like that style of abrasive blindside) but I've said before that I think of him as being reasonably comparable to Alberts, in his ability to play 8 or 6.

The premiership website (which I generally find to be accurate) is listing Dave as 128kg, that's 2kg heavier than Billy Vunipola.

I hear you. I wouldn't be mad about him at 6, just all of our tall rangy line-out/workhorse/wide channel runners seem to go at 6 rather than 8, and I want one of those besides my cube of human flesh. Obviously if Beaumont made himself undroppable, then Ewers at 6 is on like donkey kong.

Beanpole, lump, openside. My ideal back row (generally). Extra love for guys who are somehow both beanpole and lump, or lumps and opensides (etc).

I think Clifford is on his way to that - he's bulked up over the off season, and while he basically looks the same his carrying today was very impressive. Also jumped a lot in the lineout.

I thought Big Dave had an excellent game against us yesterday. Handled the wasps carriers well, jumped well, quick around the field for a big guy...tackles aplenty...

I can't look past Launchbury + Attwood as our first choice going forward

Also.. Unfashionable, but I do like Mullan.

Attwood was seriously impressive yesterday - he and Roko looked the goods.

Thomas too, come to think of it. I've not historically been his biggest cheerleader, but he could be in with a shout at some point.

The Chiefs' youngsters looked the dog's too... LCD and Ewers are seriously, seriously talented.

I don't like this post.........I love it!

Tommy Taylor had a big game this round as well.
Webber was terrible and Youngs didn't impress me.

George/LCD/Taylor dream team of hookers.

I really hope we get a new coach in because there's so much talent in the premiership who aren't getting a look in because Lancs et al. have their favourites, and their favourites are still pretty young.

dream team of hookers.

Only on a rugby board is such an utterance acceptable :D

Having said that I agree, George and LCD in particular. I haven't seen enough of Taylor to comment.

Taylor is like Dave Ward but younger and better at throwing in.
He used to be an openside.

Two thumbs up.

Just going to say this but I though Croft looked good today he was getting stuck in the rucks a lot an expert in the linout.

Putting this out there:
1) Mullan
2) George
3) Cole
4) Attwood
5) Launchbury
6) Croft
7) Kvesic
8) Clifford

16) Youngs
17) Vunipola
18) Wilson/Thomas
19) Kitchener/Slater
20) Beaumont/Morgan/Vunipola/Ewers.

Imagine if Croft had comitted to openside at the start of his career!
Got the speed/back-like link play to play 7 but also has the lineout work to put him above the competition.

No way Clifford is a better 8 than Beaumont.
If you genuinely believe he is then I'll meet you IRL and fight you.

Please Beaumont is only playing due to his daddy.

Fine if it means you won't cry Clifford on bench to cover all 3 and Beaumont starting.

Or how about
1) Yeandle, 2) George, 3) Hartley
4) Batty, 5) Heywood
6) Youngs, 7) Taylor, 8) Cowan Dickie
