England in New Zealand

So England keep the series alive following their win in Auckland, only saw the first half of the NZ innings but Broad looked in impressive form in his first spell and the fielding certainly looked sharp as well.

Sets things up nicely for Napier on Wednesday.

Two pretty even teams despite what we saw in games one and two. We are at home so were bound to hand out one hiding. England look dangerous again.

Funny how the media were talking up McCullum and Ryder! getting a bit too cocky! lol serves them well, the media if not

I'm going to the ODI in Christchurch =) so so excited.

I hope we bat first, get a good total but Chris Martin still gets a bat haha.. I love his batting :p

Not the best of starts from McCullum there, not sure if I've seen an easier catch dropped by a keeper.

Mustard is looking in decent nick, there's a big score there for him if he doesn't throw away his wicket.

Would probably grab a place in the test side if he puts up a decent knock and the longer cook stays in the better he gets

I would have thought that he'd need to back it up with another in the final game as well as he's not been convincing so far and they have previously stated that Ambrose is in pole position to keep in the tests.

Big over from Ryder, picking up Mustard and Cook in 2 balls. $2000 for charity for his efforts as well. That'll certainly slow the run-rate.

So bar that little spell from Ryder not much from the NZ attack.

NZ need 341 to win, you'd have to think England can defend that even on a surface that good.

Quality knock from Collingwood, I wouldn't think too many half centuries have been made without hitting a 4, class stuff.

New Zealand have had a good start to their chase so far - 116/1 after 17 overs with How and McCullum at the crease. Still a long way to go, but chould be exciting finish if they can keep it up... I'm going to go home now and watch it on TV... :bana:

Well what a game it was ending in a tie, 680 runs in total being the largest tie in ODI history. We should have won being in command with 10 overs left, but the Poms finally discovered how to bowl effectively.

Jamie How ended up with 139 from about 110 balls (I think), brilliant knock. Great input from Taylor, Ryder and McCullum also.

Credit to both teams, for NZ to chase such a massive total, and the England bowlers great job at the death.

i never though that Jamie How could play with such a high strike rate! Id normally put him round 70 to 80. his average puts him at 67 or something from memory! i guess he pulled it out today.

If you looked at today I think you would have to say that it was loose bowling and feilding all round. Sure it was a good pitch but im sure that both teams shouldnt have been allowed to get to 340. I guess both teams will look back on 2night and say that they shouldn't have let this one slip away from them. England shouldnt have givin them a chance and NZ should have been able to finish off the job.

Oh well leaves the series final ODI with something to chew on and an exciting prospect for the test matches if batsmen on both sides can hold their wickets like that.

What an entertaining game. Really thought the Black Caps was gonna do what they did against the Aussies in the Chapel-hadlee series a year ago. I was thinking that maybe Englands total was too much for the Black Caps, but they did not do too badly.

Congrats to both teams

I dunno. I think we have more of a right to be ****** off than England. We batted well the whole game and the only time it looked like either team would win, it was us with 10 overs left.

We needed 42 from 42 with 7 wickets in hand from memory, now any team should romp home in that situation.

Oh yeah, we definitely blew it.

what a match though!!! the entire pub, cricket supporters and non, edge of their seat. with 2 runs from 1 ball, it took people to realise we only needed one for a draw. exciting stuff and was very enjoyable. the way criket should be. now, someone tell me how much a draw is paying at the tab! i think its around $250 to a dollar in odi's.

hell yeah! it would be something crazy like that but who in their right mind would place a bet on a draw?

if you put $5 on every game to be a draw, you only need one draw paying $150-250 to win more than your money back. that would be $1000 win if it was paying $200 for a draw....
