I'd back Lancaster to, if Burns sprained an ankle, to have goode or 36 cover 10 rather than call up a third 10.

I would always want an old head fh in the squad as the third choice. Flood fits that bill but if he leaves we don't really have any one else to call up apart from cipriani with his 10 caps.

I just want Lancaster to tech Farrell how to play fh properly or cap a new one like slade, ford, etc and see how they go.

Personally for the next training camp if bring in loads of fh's just to have a look at them and pick one after seeing them all train together.

I'm dying to see Cipriani back in the ten shirt. Anyway, I've always had a soft spot for him at 10 so my view is horribly skewed.

Neither Burns nor Ford has looked as good as him this season but I wouldn't be surprised, or overly disappointed, if we have Farrell, Burns, Flood. It's unimaginative but it's the safe option for a reason, enough experience and likely to win us most of our games come the 6 Nations.

Although this shows mostly his kicking and none of the distribution which also makes him stand out.

But he looked so confident and in control in this game - granted the video only shows the good bits but there was no wishy washy tactical kicks such as we've had from just about every England 10 in the last decade - when he made a decision to kick he nailed it.
Olyy - How would you say his current performances for Sale rate against his 06/07/08 form? Is he getting there?

Forgetting our need to pick for 2015, how good does a Slade/Ford combo sound?

I think that has the potential to be a genuinely quality pairing in 3-4 years.

Good.
He's not like Wilko or Farrell, but rather than poor he's now premiership-10-standard.
Apparently he's spent a lot of time, outside of regular training, with our defence coach really working on it and it really shows.

As Olyy pointed out with the statistics......Cipriani was joint top Sale tackler last weekend against Irish with 9 completed and, I think, only 3 missed.

It was his tackling that for me stood out in that match even above his tactical awareness, kicking out of hand and positioning as his defence was certainly poor in his "Heyday". To round it off, though I would have to say his place kicking was really poor even in the conditions...

Unfortunately the place kicking of ford and burns has been poor too. Does this open the door for slade then?

But Twelvetrees is kicking great. So if, hypothetically, Farrell didn't start. 36 could take over and allow the ten to concentrate on playing if he was having kicking issues.

And obviously we should have Daly to take long range ones.

Ford's kicking has been steadily improving; he's working with Alred.

Twelvetrees can take long ones too... pretty sure he's got 60 metres in him.

Cipriani's goal kicking isn't too bad, to be honest, seen him nail some absolute beauties from the touchline.
He has off days, but not to the extent that I'd question him starting (need another kicker) and/or kicking.
