• Help Support The Rugby Forum :

England EPS 2017/18 edition.

I don't agree.

If they owned the clubs it would be different, but as it is they've got several wealthy individuals who are fairly open in their disregard for the organisation.
Keeping the cash flowing is ******* important.
Aren't the RFU significantly richer than every other union in the world?
Is halving the profits for one game every other year going to make much difference?

And they have a much larger grassroots system to support, against the richest Football league in the world, and the highest player wage demands.

Yes; for a certain value of the word "significantly"

This doesn't mean they're sitting on stacks of gold.
The money they bring Inna's already been earmarked, and mostly, already been spent. Mostly on grassroots rugby throughout England, which would be bankrupt inndays without the RFU.

Does anyone else get this sense of Deja Vu?

England U18 getting off to a poor start
Losing
37-32 to Scotland
and
32-30 to Italy

Squad is without Lawrence and Redpath but still I suppose it is how they develop more than results, Tigers been playing around 9 U18 lads in their A league since the end of the comp, and i know Lawrence has been playing for Wuss Cavs physically that is prob a better thing i guess.

Tiger in me will moan at the poor representation we've had and say 'if more were selected blah blah'

Different age restrictions in place for this tourny apparently. Hence the difference in selection from only a couple of weeks ago when we hammered Scotland.

Tuilagi and Youngs both due back before the end of the season.

Hoping Tuilagi's latest was more of a bump on his rise back to full fitness. Pec strain after his longest run back from injury in 5 years, not surprising? Both of them playing in the England summer tour would be hugely beneficial, for whoever else they get paired with. Here's to hoping for a Tuilagi-Slade combo!

I hope, and think its sensible, they both get left out. Be stupid to take them IMO. Especially Manu.

Cant see Youngs going with Tom's family situation the same as last Summer when he turned down the Lions Tour.

He does, although "a premiership team should just be running a premiership team" sounds more like a franchise than a club.

Definitely think player wages are too high in the sport and one of the biggest issues facing the game.

I agree in principle but wonder who is going to be the first club to do it. The problem with lowering wages is that it only works if everyone does it. If 1 or 2 clubs do it and nobody else does, they just lose their players and things carry on. Basically the governing body for the clubs will need to force a proper wage cap and squad cap on clubs and then you get to the point of saying why not just get centralised systems and be done with it?
