England 2024/25

If they start giving residency through schooling then that's a significant change to rules.
Is it?
It's not like the idea of students / boarding school kids having 2 permanent addresses is new.
He's spent approximately half of his life in England, and is approximately 100% the product of English rugby; it's not that big a stretch to consider him English enough.

It just means England can cherry pick the best Welsh kids with no English heritage and qualify them by school. This product of English rugby does make me laugh. He's not English is he, though. As many in here like to say about insert Scottish/Welsh player here.

makes a change from Wales doing it to England.

I take it this is a joke. Since when do we have the opportunity to cherry pick anything ffs.

The whole thing is rigged. It's set up to cement the dominance of one of the richest countries in the world with millions of people living there at the expense of smaller, poorer countries. If he wants to play for England let him qualify via residency starting from when he's 18, that will still mean he can play at 23 if he chooses but nah, that would be to fair.

It is a significant change that will have a big impact on a country like wales that doesn't have a a huge number of private schools to retain talent, regardless of your opinions on level of nationality.

Poor less advantaged countries so it can benefit wealthy countries with a plethora or resources. Like they need anymore help.

If you cry about it a bit more maybe they will change all the rules to suit you lol

Looks like Kepu Tuipulotu qualifies for England senior team via residency through schooling. šŸ˜¢
What's the deal with qualifying through schooling? Is that because he was schooled in England or is it residency based on the face he chose to come to England and be schooled and happened to stay long enough?

Don't know anything about the guy tbh.

When did he start going to school in England, and when did he start playing rugby?

Wales need to distil that generational mistrust of the English from primary school like we do to avoid this sort of thing.

If he's lived there long enough and wants to play for England though I don't think he should be stopped. The "product of X" line is rubbish too whenever it's brought up. He's a product of his own talent, drive and hard work and is from Wales like, he'd have risen to the top there too.

Tangentially, a nice ruling for Leinster / Ireland amd Casper Gabriel. IRFU lawyers will be taking note.

Seems him and his family have huge Welsh ties mind.

Soon every team in World Rugby will have a Tuipulotu playing for them.....well except Wales.

We've got Carwyn Tuipulotu (who's Kepu's cousin) who was tipped for big things, but sadly he's not kicked on as everyone hoped. Still only 23 though.

I was going to say he's the product of his ma and da. The "product of English rugby" thing, to me, implies that had he stayed in Wales he'd be waiting tables at McDonald's.

WOL for what it's worth seem adamant he's chosen England and the rule change taking into account schooling was October 23.

Which most nations voted in favour of.

Aged 7, by the looks of things.
And from then, has spent about 8-9 months a year in England
I think we all agree that he should be made to serve those 5 years consecutively. And that anyone who has heard a Tom Jones song, not only automatically qualifies for Wales, but is also immediately disqualified from playing for England.
