Ed Slater - MND Diagnosis

Such bad news....if you have doubts about what this disease can do to you, google Joost and see him at the end. Absolutely BAD....
There's already Doddie Weir who has the same and deteriorated so badly in such a short time. But yes it is a tragic disease. Whether it is directly linked to rugby Union? We have 3 very high profile cases in Joost, Doddie and Ed. There is Rob Burrows of League as well.

Still we have the highest profile - being the brilliant Professor Stephen Hawking and he lived longer than expected with MND.

But of course it's the quality of life and care required.
 
I think what this all shows though is how much the rugby community pulls together. I'd imagine the prem will back him all the way as will most of the teams.
 
Sad times. Not sure if it's been mentioned Glos Rugby have sent up a Just Giving page to help the family, if anyone is interested.
 
BBC giving a lot of airtime to the bike ride that Slater and others, including several Glaws players, are doing to raise funds and awareness.
