E3 2008

It's all well and good saying "we're 'making' these ***les", but we want pictures. For all we know they could be released in 2012 - and the World's ending that year apparantly, so it's slightly inconvenient.
[/b]

Ha Ha! Funny boy. I was reading an article about how the next 2 RWC venues will be specified for the 2015 and 2019 tournaments. I was like, but what if the world ends... Ha Ha. Top post mate. rep point for you...

Heh, at least New Zealand get one more chance to win the WC before it ends. >_>

Oh well that would be the perfect way to go out.

This is Nintendo we're talking about. The Mario and Zelda teams may be working on new games, but with Miyamoto at the helm, you can be sure as hell you wont hear about them till he's satisfied with the quality, especially after the backlash he recieved about The Wind Waker made him even more of a hermit...

Then God knows what happened with Twilight Princess. That Ocarina of Time 2 wannabe was flawed in so many ways it's hard to believe 'Shiggy' had anything to do with it.

Bring back Sensible Software, they and Team 17 could make any game turn gold!

"Zelda and the world of Alien Breed & Cannon Fodder" anyone?

Woah betide you when Mr. Iversen sees that dear Lox, woah betide you indeed...

But??? Have you successfully killed another Xbox? [/b]

Your faith has been rewarded, Mr Brewer. I am back. What I have seen does not surprise me. Not a bit. This is truely living up to itself as The Rugby Forum, as well it should. I usually disagree with Zonerunner and his (in the past from what it seems) polarised views for the 360 (what he obviously owns, fair enough), but he has actually been reporting "just the facts", more or less.

Others, however have been throwing the usual barbs Sony's way.

Oooooh, if the 360 gets MGS4, the PS3 is dead. LOL (IN THE MIGHTIEST WAY POSSIBLE). Do you realise, any of you, that the game was crammed into a 50gb Blu Ray disc? It only just fit! Do you think Kojima (who is on the record as saying "I am on the record saying", that the game will never make it to the 360!), is going to bastardise it and release it on 5 dvd's for 360? Or release it with a 4 disc 40gb+ install?

NO. If you really are so out of touch that you think it will. The DVD-9 format can only hold 9.7gb per disc.

As for Resistance being scripted? Yes. It is!!! Of course it is!!! Some games are not supposed to be free roam!!!!! Is Metal Gear solid scripted? Yes! Is Call Of Duty 4? Resident Evil 5? Yes!!!!
Just because one person (yes, you are only one person, *REVELATION*), and maybe a percentage of others don't like that, does that mean it's garbage, a failure? No. Yes, it has Cloverfield elements. A bad thing? Not at all for many, maybe for a percentage !!! Keep the Hyperbole in check for sake of your accuracy if nothing else. This game will amongst many........kick ass!

Oh, on Final Fantasy XIII exclusivity??? Yes, it has hurt Sony. A little, of that I'm sure. I hasn't hurt Sony as much as HD-DVD dieing hurt Microsoft. Not even 10%. That would be being kind.
Ohh, Sony's exclusives ALL gone? Do I even have to respond? One major ***le. Out of many. God Of War III? Add that to the pile of undiscussed-in-this-thread exclusives!!!!

The PS3 is selling very well now. I don't have to defend it really, not anymore. It hasn't "won". It hasn't "lost". Neither of the two more discussed "head to head" formats have won.

They WILL co-exist. They ARE co-existing !!!!

WOW. What a concept. Can you grasp it? No.

I'm ready for the standard TRF ignorant response.

RE: MGS4... If they cut out 1/3 of the pointless cut scenes, it's happily fit onto a normal DVD... :p

Anyway, there will never be co-existence between consoles. the rivalries will always go on as much as the fanbois will always exist. This has been the case since the NES vs Master System and was build into our DNA with the Mega Drive v the SNES (when, I may add, the Mega Drive pwnt the SNES!!1!!ONE!1!).

Especially now in business, the companies actually promote slagging off the competition; e.g. Sega: "Stations are for Train Spotters".

This round will end in a draw, which isn't bad on Microsoft's part considering the margin that Sony had with the PS2 vs Xbox. But when the Xbox1080 v PS4 happens, chances are that the Americans will take over and Sony will maybe pull out of the market.

Then Apple will come along with their Xbox rival, the "iBox" (complete with iPod and iPhone and iMac and iToilet compatibility), make it look stylish but crap, sell millions and ruin gaming for all of us ever after.

Wow, your a real wit, Teh. some Mite say a f***-wit. Not I, I wouldn't dare.

Am I to understand, (if I see through your smorgasboard of cliche-ridden, pun-driven, bizarre pastiche of child-like speculation and delusion-filled crystal ball gazing) that you don't understand that the current "next-gen" (bah! current-gen already!!!) consoles are already co-existing?

Not co-existing in the happy, "Bert & Ernie-in-the-bedroom" sense, that you so obviously refer to and no doubt pray for. I'm saying they co-exist, a lot more like Israelites and Palestinians. Y'know, not friendly? Locked in an eternal stand-off?

C'mon. You must have that now, surely?

EN GUARD!

(Said with seeeeeething fury!!!) "I wish I had a huge glove, so I could then decide which chin to slap with it!!!!!!!" :p

CA, I'm not bothered about the console wars as you know, but I am pretty sure Kojima is on record as saying that MGS4 is NOT exclusive to the PS3?

I would just like to add at least sony had some decent stuff to show to the hardcore gamers. nintendo on the other hand had basically nothing with the highlight being wii motionplus. The biggest thing I got out of e3 as a wii owner was seeing the conduit a wii fps that wasn't even officially on the show floor. at least the ps3 guys and 360 guys got to see some nice hardcore games while those of us with wii's got casual nothingness and more petz horsez and whatever from the likes of ubisoft etc.

the big thing with final fantasy XIII being on 360 is that people that were going to buy a ps3 when it came out no longer will since they already have a 360. how much that hurts sony I don't know but it will put a dent of some kind into sales going forward. it will definitely affect a sony stronghold like nz where many 360 owners already are making the decision not to buy a ps3 because final fantasy XIII a game they would have bought a ps3 for is now coming out on 360. if some other awesome ps3 exclusive games come out though the situation could change again.

for those interested new info on the conduit very nice looking wii fps. will also apparently have wiispeak (new announced nintendo microphone that sets ontop of your tv) support so that you can talk smack to your mates etc online. remember this game wasn't even officially on the show floor at e3 but it definitely my most anticipated wii game by far.

hands on preview

Still, a down-ported, half quality effort in 576p may be possible on 2-3 discs.[/b]
When PS3 make a high quality game above and beyond anything capable on the 360 then you'd have a point. At the moment they are taking a sledgehammer to hammer in a nail.

that guy must have been listening to a different q&a to the rest of the world. an example of what you will find in every blog of the square enix q&a. if its coming out 2010 on 360 then it will be on ps3 too except if you are in japan.

1:01 - They are "ready to start" developing FF XIII. So first they will complete the PS3 version in Japan, then start a localization for the US and Europe while they start development on the 360 version.

1:03 - The PS3 and the 360 versions will be released simultaneously in the US and Europe, but not Japan. The 360 version won't be released in Japan.

1:05 - They said they will try to time the release date for US and Europe at the same time, and that they will "expedite" the process of localizing from Japan.

Of course, Square Enix then had to answer whether or not the game will be released simultaneously on both platforms, and in all territories. Hashimoto explained that the game will be developed first on the PS3, and released in Japan; it will then be ported to the Xbox 360 while it's being localized for the North American and European markets.

In those markets, the game will be released simultaneously on both platforms - the Xbox 360 version is currently not slated for release in Japan.

It might be cut-scenes that are taking up a lot of space on the Blu-Ray disc with MGS4, but please answer more specifically how Microsoft will fit nearly 50gb's of data onto one DVD-9 which can hold 9.7gb's?

FFXIII is being developed to work well primarily with the PS3's seven SPU's and is of an altogether different programming architecture than the way data is processed on the Xbox 360. The port for Xbox 360 will be a very complex issue and will take far longer than the vocal localisation will take for english speaking countries. I can definitely see FFXIII making it to US, Europe & other english-speaking PAL locales a good 5-6 months before Xbox 360 see anything.

Much like Lost Planet was what they call a "timed exclusive" for the Xbox 360 and Unreal Tournament 3 is still for the PS3.

I guess we can conjecture either way, time will tell one way or the other. :)

it seems pretty black and white to me nothing to conjecture about it all. what square enix have said is on the record now it just comes down to if they lie or not. time will time if they lie or not. it could end up in a GTA IV like situation where one version is supposedly ready before the other but they have to wait to finish both versions before release. I think its fairly obvious to assume microsoft gave square enix money to develop FXIII on the 360 and maybe one of the conditions of them seeing any of that money is to release at the same time as the ps3 that is conjecture but it does make sense. screwing over microsoft would have dire consquence for square enix I would think.
