Dove Men Challenge: Wales vs. Australia (3-12-11, 14:30 GMT)

Well done Aus for some great finishing with a man up.

A great advert for rugby today. Passion, commitment and flashes of brilliance.

Thanks for everything Shane, you've left some big boots to fill.

Just watching the rugby forum with Davis, Moore and Guscott; Guscott looks like a pompous arse in the middle making funny looks at what the others says - especially to Moore.

Well the Gatland/Edwards dream team fail again against the Aussies! Lets hope the selectors for Lions coach wake up and not listern to all the hype coming out of the BBC.

Yeah, lets have Johnson and Cockerill in instead

First class idiot.

What relevance has this to do with the game? As Olyy said ... much like the Leicester bias of old.

Not a great performance today. Some flashes of what we're capable of, but ultimately not good enough. We simply couldn't get enough territory in the second half, and because of it we played alot of the second half without the ball, after being forced to relieve pressure through the boot. Didn't manage to get the big runners like Roberts and North into the game enough, which meant there wasn't much space available out wide.

One positive was Ian Evans' performance after so long out of international rugby. Good in the lineout, and industrious around the field. Gethin Jenkins had a huge game I thought. Was like an extra flanker on the field. Some moments from Faletau and Lydiate, but not at their WC best this game, same for Warburton who had one of his quietest games in a Wales shirt. Aus did well to shut him out of the contact area I thought. Andrews struggled in the scrum as I thought he might, although tbh not many of the props were binding and Aus were allowed to push before the ball was in. The first penalty was a complete joke in that regard. Andrews looked decent around the field.

I thought Lloyd Williams' distribution was good, but his all round game let him down a little. He really needs to work on his kicking game which was a little erratic and put Priestland under pressure a couple of times on our own goal line.

Was great that Shane got the final try in the final move of the game, good way for him to bow out of the game. He'll certainly be missed.

^^What he said, we do seem to have decent strength in depth at lock. Got 4 who can interchange easily and Ryan Jones isn't a bad alternative wither.

Disagree on the Andrews front Dull. Had it been officiated better then Wales would have been given more free-kicks / penalties.

Make no bones about it, best team won it.

Scott Williams had some terrible passes early on

Decent enough game, not much more to say that hasn't been said

Very happy to see Shane get a try at the death - shame they didn't give him the conversion like they did when Jason Robinson got a try in his last match in extra time

Never can seemn to handle people with a different point of view can you?

It has much relevence, the BBC and yourself seem to think that Gatland is a shoe in for the Lions job but his record against Australia and indeed any of the tri nations teams is woeful even with arguably one of the best NH teams playing at home against an Aussie team at the end of a long season he still couldnt get a win. Everyone was banging on about him and Edwards following the world cup but now we are back home normal service has resumed......

With the exception of Clive Woodward, who doesn't even work in rugby anymore, which coach has a good record against 3N sides then?

Who would you pick?

Kidney has at least has beaten the Aussies, in regards to TFR_Olvy question: none of the current 3 coaches (unless you consider Andy Robinson has beaten the Aussies with Scotland and as forwards coach for England) but why does it have to be any of them? I have said before I would prefer a club/region coach like the Lions had in 1971 but why not Jake White or even....Graham Henry? he has been there before and I am sure he knows what he did wrong last time.

Lions coach erm, let's see who the new England manager is first. I am not sure they would have enough time to show what they can do for the Lions.

As for Wales today, not convincing but it was a nothing game.

Let's see at the end of the 6 nations, it's going to be a good one. I can't see Wales winning in Ireland or beating England if the coaching sorts it-self and they step up.

Quote me please ... because I certainly have not said Gatland for the Lions. No relevance therefore. But then when you are ignorant these things can happen.
