Wasps have named Dai Young as their new director of rugby, on a four-year deal.

I think this is a good move for all concerned.

I feel that the Blues have been stagnating somewhat under Young. I don't think he's a bad coach, but he's simply been there too long and there needs to be some fresh impetus from an outsider. I hope the romours that Baber and Burnell taking over aren't true, because I think they need someone with prooven quality to come in, not another project like Young was. I also hope it's a Welsh coach, becuase I feel that Welsh coaches should be in charge at all the regions. So with that in mind, Kingsley Jones would be my ideal choice, however he's commited untill after the WC. Lyn Jones could return to Welsh rugby, but he's alwyas been quite commited to the O's, even after leaving.

For Dai himself, I think this is also a good move. He needs to show what he can do in a different setting. The pressure is going to be off him to some degree at Wasps, and I'm sure he'll thoroughly enjoy not having the Welsh media on his back 24/7, unlike for the majority of his time at the Blues. I feel this was always a necessary step if he harboured genuine ambitions to become coach of Wales.

Any Wasps fans want to comment on whether they see this as a good move for Wasps? Afterall, I don't think Young is the finished article yet, he's still got much to learn. Would you have preferred a coach with better credentials?

Wouldn't be a Wasps coach unless they had a penchant for passing the buck.

Lyn Jones was appointed London Welsh coach last month.

Young was not helped and not being really able to get players in. Money has dried up.
