Cruden signs for the chiefs

Good option for Cruden, cant see him winning any trophies with the Chiefs in the coming years but i can imagine the environment at the Hurricanes isn't positive and he probably looked at the way they treated Nonu and Hore and wanted to get out of that kind of organisation quickly.

The signing of Cruden, as well as his Manawatu team mate Michael Fitzgerald, has been confirmed this morning. Personally I think it is a good move for Cruden; he will certainly get great coaching from Dave Rennie and Wayne Smith.

Never mind the way Nonu and Hore were treated, how about the way Cruden himself was treated? Benched for half the season behind a fairly average player in Kirkpatrick, which was the same as last year when he was stuck behind Ripia. Good move from Cruden, go to where the coaches will have some faith and not bench him.

When I look at how he developed as a player I'm quiet convinced he will be a good addition to the team on the long term

Sure, Cruden probably wanted to get out of an environment where senior players can't even turn up to training in professional clothing or respect the coaches.....

Hurricanes have still got Hobbs and Barrett for 2012 and Sopoaga will be back for 2013 I should imagine. I have never rated Cruden and I'm not that sad to see him go.

Hobbs is so injury prone you cant count on him and i really doubt Sopoaga will return (given that he has essentially been told he is the future of the highlanders). Barrett is fiercely loyal to Taranaki and the Canes by extention but he should really get going too if he knows whats good for him.

Really? If you look at the first fives across the franchises the Hurricanes are clearly the weakest. If Barrett did go to the Blues he sure would be lucky to start at fullback and I think Anscombe would be ahead of him at 10. Why would he not go somewhere where he can actually start. Also, if Sopoaga is the future of the Highlanders then that future lies at 12. If he wants to play first five he should get out of there.
