RIP Phil Hughes... Just absolutely tragic. Honestly can't bare reading any more about it... Just too bloody sad.

I feel I should share this here:

In Oz a young lad today scored 37 for his club then walked off. He walked off & said he finished the innings off for Phil Hughes. Awesome
— Steffan Jones (@SteffanJones105) November 29, 2014

Just watched the statement by the Oz Captain Michael Clarke

Now that took Balls

I have to give a standing ovation to the NZ cricket team.

Look at these interesting stats regarding their last match:

NZ bowled 1135 balls in 3rd test match , Not even a single bouncer

Took all 20 wickets , Did not even celebrated a single wicket

Williamson didn't celebrated his 50,100 & 150

Mccullum didn't celebrated his 100,150 & 200

Mccullum Dedicated his double ton to Hughes

Played with jersey written 'P.H' on it

So it starts! Daily Telegraph today calls for ban on bouncers!!!! To be pedantic they say "high" bouncers but do not know what that is and how do you stop a bouncer becoming high?!!

Ugh!

The media is going to jump on this and ride it all the way to the bank.

They had an intersting article the other day about maybe implementing a more baseball-like helmet, giving more cover to the neck area and also wearing padding around the neck.

What's bothering me is that why are they just challenging the Bouncer? Why are they not taking the matter of the hardness of the ball into consideration? I read that an Israeli Cricket umpire died earlier this week when he was struck on the head by the ball...

Seems like that story has been swept aside...

EDIT: Here's the article:

Just one thing Torygraph, high bouncers are already penalised, either with a wide or no-ball or sometimes warnings for the bowler.

Think they should stick to what they know.

Astonishing final day in the Aus v India test. Thought India were well on their way to a record victory with one session of play and 8 wickets in hand, and then it all fell apart for them. Incredible test match and what a performance from Lyon!

Great win by AUS, won a night of free beers tomorrow as all my Indian colleagues were saying it would be a drawn. Also happy with Sri Lanka winning the 6th ODI game of the series against England.

Back about this time last year in the Ashes thread, I said I thought Steven Smith was a great young test prospect for Australia. I think that thought has now been emphatically confirmed, and I wonder of a few of the doubters still think he's "not test quality" or "unproven"

I'm really enjoying the third test and Smith is doing a great job. But the stint that McCullum pulled off two days ago (195 off 134 balls) omg. I reckon I will be hooked in front of the screen again tomorrow.

Please tell me you guys watched yesterday's game between South Africa and the West Indies??

AB de Villiers breaking all kinds of records:
Fastest half century in ODI (16 balls)
Fastest Century in ODI (31 balls)
It was also the fastest century in all 3 formats of the game.

South Africa went on to score their highest total ever in an ODI with a score of 439-2

It was truly an amazing thing to watch!

It was something else to behold, but West Indies bowled very badly most of the time.
If they had a full strength lineup, then that score would probably not have happened.

Key players they were missing were:

Kemar Roach
Dwayne Bravo
Darren Bravo
Kyron Pollard

But still, it's in the record books, so at least the people watching were entertained :D

That's fair enough but I'd wager they'd still be better than the Netherlands who were the opposition for the top score.

Great innings by all 3 batsmen. I just almost broke down and cried that AB didn't get that 1 extra run to make it 150. Or that we didn't manage to crack that biggest score ever! Only needed 1 more 4 to equal.. still, that all shouldn't detract from what was a game (one sided though) to remember.
