[COVID-19] General Discussion

Well, the over 60 year olds started their vaccination process on Monday here in SA. My parents both got their Pfizer shot yesterday afternoon. And it seems the whole process took them just over an hour. They stood in the queue, got their registration papers, completed the forms, the nurses checked on the database if they were registered, and then they got the injection.

All booked in for my microchip
Got to drive a bit for my first one this Saturday, but I can only really do the weekend so I'm OK with it
2nd one is much closer
Yeh i have noticed by 4G on my phone has received a boost speed wise since my jabs. ;) Well worth it.

Putting the narcissist aside, it's the closest thing we'll have until the public enquiry kicks off, of what was going on inside in no.10 last March 2020.

So Hancock gets outright called a liar and should have been sacked according to Cummings. Bojo let down by the system, but didn't take it seriously enough to begin with even saying he wanted to be injected with the virus live on air to show it was harmless. Idiot.

No surprise at no plan at no.10, we could all see it crystal clear from where we were sitting watching the news.

If half of what Cummings says is true then it's pretty shocking although sadly not surprising
Trouble is - about half of what he's saying probably is true, The question is - which half?
For example, I don't believe for one moment that BJ would have had himself injected with the virus on TV; and even less do I believe that he'd have found anyone to do so (although I can believe that he said it with absolutely no intention of following through - for a classics "scholar" he's remarkably fond of hubris)

True, but he's properly stuck (sticking) the knife into Hancock. Some of it does feel like he grinding an axe

But seems to be line with a lot of stupid things Bojo has said and written though like:

Yeh Muslim women in veils looking like letterboxes.

The going around shaking everyones hand comment back in March.

Allegedly that he'd rather let the bodies pile high than have another lockdown before announcing the second lockdown.

Will just add to the perception that he's a blundering fool with his loose lips.

Anyone else following Cummings being questioned?

It has been a troubling day. First the pandemic made me agree with Piers Morgan, today it had me hanging on Dominic Cummings' every word.

Hasn't he said that he has evidence to corroborate the claims that he's made? Hard to imagine he could think he could get away with anything if so.

On the other hand, his take on Sunak seems weird given that how widely he was reported to have stood in the way of previous lockdowns. Also strange that Cummings denied having edited his blog, based on what I remember, there was no question that he was guilty of this to anyone with a basic knowledge of the Internet / Wordpress.

Cases over 3k again. Really glad the government took such decisive action on the Indian varient
Is the UK, England specifically, going to see a massive increase in cases over the next few weeks?

Hard to tell what it's like compared to here, especially as England opened up earlier

If anything it's going to increase cases in those not fully vaccinated yet. That's the worry as restrictions are lifted. Whether this is then reflected in hospitals again we only have to look at Royal Bolton hospital right now to give an indication .

We'll see an increase regardless as testing will skyrocket with things opening again and requiring tests to go (I've got to test twice a week for work)

That said: cases are definitely on the rise in some places atm

Given that if not already then soon, B.1.617.2 will soon be the most popular variant in England and how quickly it's kicked B.1.1.7's arse, it seems pretty clear to me that it's significantly more transmissible.

Yeah, it's nothing other than what it claims to be - the number of people who have taken a test and tested positive, but that won't stop people drawing spurious conclusions. When rates start climbing, ONS's data becomes the gold standard IMO, with ZOE and the %age of positive tests providing interesting indicators.

so, a bit of an outbreak here in Melbourne, still only 15 people but over 300 close contacts still being tested and some missing links

poeple suddenly realising why we should have got the vaccine rollout going earlier
